Now the president is taking his time?

  • Follow Letters

I see that President Obama is "weeks away" from making a decision on whether or not to send additional troops to Afghanistan as Gen. David Petraeus has requested. The general has requested 40, 000, but Obama is analyzing the amount and whether to send half, a fourth or none.

Funny how he can ram legislation down Congress' throat for stimulus bills, automobile-industry and Wall Street bailouts, etc., but he will need weeks to decide on an increase in troop strength to Afghanistan. Perhaps, because he couldn't ram the health-care reform down Congress' throat, he'll just take his sweet time about this decision.

Besides, he could use this money to initiate and install his own private, civilian police force that would outnumber our military forces -- the plan that he has desired since the beginning!

55 F-100, a lot of name

55 F-100, a lot of name calling and false assumptions. Not one solution or one issue facing our nation addressed. Yep, you are a good republican. You should run for office. Your 9:51am post will fit right into their platform. No ideas.

I think that we should all be concerned while we wait for a guy who has only voted "present" his entire life to make a decision concerning an ongoing military situation where soldiers are dying every day.

justus, you have the right to

justus, you have the right to your opinion about firing Gen. McChrystal but where is your evidence about him being involved in a coverup about Pat Tillman? The Army took no action against the General. Please examine your evidence in such cases before posting. Niko, your name should be Recess because you have no class!

Which one of you honestly

Which one of you honestly think you can do a better job in 10 months time? This isn't like organzing a field trip or planning a get together this is making sure Peter doesn't rob Paul while keeping his eye on Sam at the same time while a billion other people tug at your pants leg and claim that they're needs are more important than anyone else's. Realize that he is a man like some of you and he is working as hard as he can to protect the rights that most of you take for granted everyday. Oh well I can't pay for this or I can't afford to do that, whine whine whine, what about the people who can't afford food, or health care let alone worry about a roof over their heads.

Montega12 maybe you could

Montega12 maybe you could enlighten the rest of us about the Nobel prize. Tell us who else was nominated and what criteria they used for selection? I am sure 55-f-100 and his friends Billyjoebobffrank and lindasueellenmae are waiting also. I am sure those are the names he uses for people so he can show how smart he is to the rest of us. Yeah it takes a real educated thinker to come up with the names of the President, unfortunately the ridiculousness is only ringing in his ears.

Markmitix General Max

Markmitix General Max testified before the Senate about Tillmans death and that he approved the Silver star even though it was badly written. The general said he didn't know at the time that Tillan had died from fraticide. That in and of itself is justification for removal from command. The commander is responsible for knowing the events leading to the death of all soldiers under him. And for him to hurry up a solver star award just reeks of cover up for those of us who have served. By the way Gen Mac was in charge last week when we lost a bunch of guys for Pi$$ poor planning of where to put a fire support base, but he hasn't been relieved. That base was attacked because it was surrounde by mountains providing perfect firing points for the enemy. Only an idiot would have placed the vase where it was located.

not a problem dissman the

not a problem dissman the nobel peace prize is for a person that has reduced the number of standing armies and has also done service to promoting peace through action if you noticed he nominated only two weeks into his term we still have a war brewing he has increased the number of troops in the middle east so he DOES NOT qualify for the prize besides the fact that he isnt BUSH also the prize is for lifelong achievements in this process since he has been friend with militant preachers and domestic terrorist that blew up the pentagon he has no right to the award he was only in congress for what maybe 180 days before he was nominated so NOW YOU TELL US WHY HE DESERVES THIS AWARD

Since when did politics

Since when did politics become about simply "winning" elections and calling the other side the "losers"? Do you people not see that this is the enormous problem with politics in America today? It has all turn into a giant game where all that matters is getting in control. The Republicans don't care about you or me, Democrats don't care about you or me, and no, not even Barack Obama cares about you or me. These career politicians are worried about themselves and their own personal legacies and it is somewhat disheartening.

Mr. Zimmerman - Taking time

Mr. Zimmerman - Taking time is a credit to Obama's intelligeence. He refuse to have war enthusists push him into sending more troops into a useless conflict that's already costing this country too much. The old Vietnam wisdom of send more troope, and then send more troops, and then send more troops is a path to ruin.

Disssman, I am reasonably

Disssman, I am reasonably certain that you do not know that George Washington was guilty of the same thing. I can't remember whether it was during the French and Indian War or the Revolutionary. His one and only fort design was in a valley surrounded by higher ground.

Then gasp, you are saying

Then gasp, you are saying that Obama has changed his mind since his campaigning days. Or was he going to do this all along? If so, why did he send in more troops to start with? He's looking right wishy-washy now. Perhaps all of that pre-election rhetoric was just that, rhetoric to dupe people into voting for him. He certainly has broken other promises he made as to how he would govern.

Concernnednative, Justass4-it

Concernnednative, Justass4-it was NOT McCrystal that leaked his request for troops. It was some one in the Pentagon. BimbObama hand picked McC, now isn't listening to him on the situation on the ground. Funny that he can get a porkulus bill rammed though Congress in days (and take more days to sign it), try and ram health care reform down Congress's throat before the summer break but now wants weeks (months?) to decide whether or not to give his hand picked commander on ghe ground the troops he needs? Sound llike the empty suited, clueless [filtered word]BimbObama is is clearly showing these days.

overburdened, one person

overburdened, one person can't solve every problem at a large corporation are you kidding me. I take it you have only worked at very small businesses or are self employed. Nothing wrong with that but large corporations have hundreds of people involved in things at one time oen person can't just snap their fingers and fix all that. You are right you should come with solutions but you have to get the executives involved in major stuff. Trust me on that one. Can you imagine a E5 at Ft Gordon ordering changes to the entire base. He may have a great suggestion but he needs to handle it properly.
Posted by concernednative on Tue Oct 13, 2009 7:40 AM....McC followed military protocol by sending his request/sitrep through channels. CEOs have to prioritize issues on which to make decisions . When our troops are dying, I would think that the situation ifn Afghanistan would be BimbObama's TOP priority (especially after saying it was a war of necesssity). Your comparing Gen McC' s sitrep to an E-5's suggestion merely shows your "depth" of knowledge of the military. Guess I am wrong-political hay with health care reform/vote buying is far more important, right

The big O needs to be

The big O needs to be impeached and the sooner the better. The longer he is in office, the worse things will become. He can't make a decision right now because he doesn't know how to make one--perhaps his mouthpiece 'czar' hasn't come up with an answer yet.

Did Justus4 make the same

Did Justus4 make the same kind of comments when people were speaking out against Bush? I highly doubt it. It's only disrespectful when it's against the messiah. Hey Justus4, why hasn't YOUR messiah ended the war in Iraq, like he promised? Why hasn't YOUR messiah ended the war in Afghanistan, like he promised? Why hasn't YOUR messiah closed Gitmo, like he promised? Why hasn't YOUR messiah kept unemployment under 8%, like he promised? Seems that YOUR messiah is nothing but a LIAR. A totally incompetent idiot and a LIAR. Hope you're proud.
