MANY OF US have ridden by the new beautiful parking areas of the Augusta National Golf Club. These are beautiful, expansive grassy fields that are only used one week of the year for the Masters Tournament. It would be a wonderful gesture on the part of the Augusta National to permit the Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts to have a three- or four-day camping experience in this beautiful setting. I am sure they would respect the fields and leave them in fine shape.
TWO CHANGES in health care would be a tremendous help: 1. Lower the age of Medicare recipients to 50 or 55 years. This population is in need of health care now more than younger folks. 2. If you sue a doctor and lose, you pay.
IN 1994, Mark McClain robbed and murdered. It's now 2009, and finally he may get executed, although with modern American "justice" we never know. Fourteen years and this animal is still breathing and taxpayers continue to pay for his room and board.
CAN SOMETHING be done about the school traffic out at Cross Creek High School? It's so hard to get out from the school. Can't the school crossing guard help stop traffic for us to get out? Just a few at a time would be a great help. Cars back up 30 or more every day.
I AM A DEMOCRAT, and I know that Michael Moore is really good at editing film to portray a false situation. I have seen his film Fahrenheit 9/11, and I've seen the inaccuracies in that film. He's really good at doing what reality shows have been doing for years: creating drama through editing. If you go see a Michael Moore film to get "educated," then you must be a complete, brainwashed idiot.
OBAMA, KEEP YOUR nose out of the military. In Vietnam we had enough problems with Congress dictating what to do. That's why soldiers fight the wars. Let us make the decisions. That's why you put us there. Keep your nose out of it and let the generals and soldiers run the war like it should be run.
THE AUGUSTA COMMISSION has wasted enough of our tax money keeping the X-Mart closed to house Augusta's homeless population. The commission does not care about Augusta's homeless population.
I AM AN African-American military spouse and nurse. My husband has served this country for 15 years, and of all the duty stations we've been stationed I have never seen such racism until we moved here. I love Augusta as a city; it's the people that I don't care much for. Lots of people here are just rude. To top it all off, we purchased a home in Columbia County. Worst idea ever.
