AUGUSTA, Ga. - Odell Batey Mayle, a native Augustan, entered into eternal rest on October 8, 2009. She retired from the Richmond County Board of Education, where she served as Food Service Director at C.T. Walker Elementary School for many years. She was a faithful, lifelong member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, where she served on the Red Rose Auxilary and was named a Mother of the Church in 2006. She leaves to cherish her memories: a son, Darrel Mayle of Augusta, Ga.; grandson, James "Jay" Mayle III, Atlanta, Ga.; sister, Mayme Durant, Silver Spring, Md.; brother, Bland Batey, Atlanta, Ga.; nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Homegoing services will be held Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 1223 Laney Walker Blvd. with Reverend Charles E. Goodman, Jr. officiating. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. The family will receive guests from 6 to 7 p.m. on Monday, October 12, 2009 at W.H. Mays Mortuary, 1221 James Brown Boulevard, Augusta, GA 30901 (706) 722-6401.
