AUGUSTA, Ga. - Milford Virgil McConnell, 87, entered into rest on Monday, October 5, 2009. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Monday, October 12, 2009 in the Lumpkin Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home with Pastor Joseph Lennon officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park. He was preceded in death by a brother, half-sister and two great grandchildren. Mr. McConnell lived most of his life in Ohio, retiring to Live Oak, Florida in 1988 and moving to Augusta in 2007 to be near family. His hobbies were wood carving and gardening. He was a World War II US Army veteran serving with the 305th Airborne Squadron in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre and received two Bronze Service Stars. He is survived by four daughters, Lorraine (William) Gifford, Beech Island, South Carolina, Lois Ann Musgrove, Madison Heights, Virginia, Linda Lou (Ted) Baldwin, Mt. Gilead, Ohio, Lana Lee Patzer, Galion, Ohio; thirteen grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; brothers, Edward Pennell, Canton, Ohio, LeRoy McConnell, Marion, Ohio; sisters, Betty Merritt, Morral, Ohio and Faith Blankenship, California. The family will receive friends from 10 - 11 AM prior to the service Monday, October 12, 2009 at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 2524 Lumpkin Road, Augusta, Georgia.
