Stafford says little about his hurt knee

Matthew Stafford and the Detroit Lions are being coy about the quarterback's injured right knee and his status.

Is the kneecap dislocated?

"Really not sure," Stafford said Thursday after missing a second consecutive practice.

Will you play Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers?

"I don't know," he said. "We'll see."

Detroit's injury report listed the former Georgia star as one of its players who did not practice Thursday because of a knee injury.

COWBOYS: Wide receiver Roy Williams remains sidelined by a rib injury, but coach Wade Phillips didn't rule out Williams playing against Kansas City on Sunday.

Running back Felix Jones (knee) also remained sidelined and is likely to miss his second consecutive game.

PATRIOTS: Oft-injured running back Fred Taylor is sidelined again and could need surgery on his right ankle.

Taylor is expected to miss Sunday's game at Denver after sitting out his second consecutive day of practice amid an ESPN.com report that he needs surgery.

SEAHAWKS: All signs are pointing toward Matt Hasselbeck returning to quarterback the Seahawks on Sunday against Jacksonville.

The three-time Pro Bowl passer looked sharp while completing a second consecutive practice. It's his first work since he broke a rib Sept. 20 at San Francisco.

JETS: Wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery was limited at practice with a hamstring injury that isn't expected to sideline him for the team's game at Miami on Monday night.

HEARING PLANNED: The House Energy and Commerce Committee plans to conduct a hearing in November on the case of Minnesota Vikings defensive players Pat Williams and Kevin Williams , whose suspensions were blocked by a federal appeals court.

OBITUARY: Leon Clarke, a two-time Pro Bowl wide receiver in the NFL who played for Southern Cal in the 1955 Rose Bowl, died at 76 of pancreatitis on Monday.
