Today : Graves Mountain, a former mine known for its rare - and sometimes very valuable - minerals, will be open to the public for the semiannual Rock, Swap & Dig event in which visitors can chisel away at rock outcrops in search of treasure. The mine will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Visitors can dig for minerals that include rutile and iridescent hematite. Mineral and rock collectors from across the Southeast will have booths for buying, selling and trading, and vendors will provide food and drinks. Families are welcome. Friday : The Army Corps of Engineers will hold an archery-only primitive weapon deer hunt at its 2,545-acre Bussey Point, located in Lincoln County. Hunters will be checked through the check station located at the entrance gate. Hours of operation will be from one hour before sunrise through one hour after sundown. Camping will be limited to the camping area adjacent to check station during the management hunts. The bag limit is two does and one quality buck each day of each hunt.
