KANSAS CITY, Kan. --- That horrific crash certainly didn't slow Joey Logano down.
Logano passed points leader Kyle Busch with three laps left Saturday at Kansas Speedway, pulling out his fourth Nationwide win just a week after the crash.
Logano flipped his car seven times at Dover last week, but showed no signs of fear in Kansas, overcoming a bobble with six laps left before passing Busch.
Busch led 173 of the 200 laps on the 1.5-mile oval and has led 2,226 laps this season, breaking the season series record of 2,127 set by Sam Ard in 1984. But Busch didn't have enough to hold off Logano.
Busch leads Carl Edwards by 245 points with six races left. Edwards finished seventh.
JUNIOR BACKS CREW CHIEF: Dale Earnhardt Jr. has given a formal endorsement for crew chief Lance McGrew.
Earnhardt will start a season-best second in today's Sprint Cup race at Kansas Speedway, his 16th race with McGrew calling the shots for his underachieving Hendrick Motorsports team.
"I like working with Lance. I get along great with Lance," Earnhardt said. "We have had some great runs and I feel like I can build on that type of success."
WALKING FREE: Edwards is hoping to ditch the crutches he's been using in the next couple days.
He broke his right foot in early September during a rough game of frisbee, and has been using a set of steel crutches ever since.
"Just one more week on the crutches, and, trust me, I can't wait," Edwards said.
FORMULA ONE: Championship contenders Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello were among five drivers penalized five starting places in qualifying for the Japanese Grand Prix.
The pair, Fernando Alonso and Adrian Sutil failed to slow when yellow flags were waved during the second round of qualifying. Sebastian Buemi, whose accident brought out the flags, also drops back five spots.
Button and Barrichello qualified in seventh and fifth places, respectively.
Sebastian Vettel will start from the pole position and still retains slim championship hopes.
Joey Logano: Driver whose car flipped seven times in Sprint Cup race last week won his fourth Nationwide race of the season.
