JASON MAYNARD

HOMETOWN: Erie, Pa.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's of music, piano performance, Baldwin-Wallace College Conservatory of Music; master's of music, organ performance, Cleveland State University

OCCUPATION: Director of music and organist at Covenant Presbyterian Church, part-time faculty in the music department at Augusta State University; musical director of the Medical College of Georgia Chorus

MUSICAL ROOTS: "My mom is an amateur pianist. She had one of those little house electric organs that were really popular in the '70s. ... I'd come home from church, and I'd be picking out the tunes to hymns when I was 4 on the organ. ... It was pretty clear from an early age that I was addicted to music."

FAVORITE PERFORMANCE: Conducting the hand bell ensembles of Covenant Presbyterian, First Baptist and Reid Memorial Presbyterian, Festival Bells & Brass, Gilbert-Lambuth Memorial Chapel, Paine College, 2009. "Everyone came on board for a common purpose, a common goal, and they achieved it."

MOST INTERESTING CONCERT: Music festival, Paris, 2007. "I was there on Bastille Day, on July 14, standing on the mall at the Eiffel Tower ... and there were 400,000 people there. And there were French musicians; Nelly Furtado was there performing ... and I had never been in a situation with that many people at a concert."

MOST MEMORABLE CONCERT ATTENDED IN AUGUSTA: Chanticleer, Grover C. Maxwell Performing Arts Theatre, Augusta State University, 2007. "They were really, really good."

FAVORITE MOVIES: L'auberge espagnole and The Russian Dolls

FAVORITE BOOKS: Erik Larson's The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair That Changed America and Thunderstruck; Thad Carhart's The Piano Shop on the Left Bank: Discovering a Forgotten Passion in a Paris Atelier
