Racism doesn't factor into fiscal crisis

  • Follow Letters

I am disappointed, yet hardly surprised, that Jimmy Carter recently stated opposition to President Obama's policies is fueled by racism.

And he is certainly not alone among his liberal colleagues in voicing that opinion: Conservatives are protesting Obama's policies; Obama is black; therefore, conservatives must be protesting Obama's policies because he is black. What kind of ill-conceived, juvenile logic is used in that ridiculous opinion?

Trying to push through large social programs that will substantially increase the size and reach of government, when we already have a daunting $1.8 trillion budget deficit, is fiscally reckless, no matter if you are black, white, red or green. Citizens have a right to be concerned -- nay, a right to be infuriated -- because this administration is blowing the roof off of our budget and depleting our nation's wealth at an unprecedented rate. We can't afford to pay for the government we have, and liberals are on a shopping spree attempting to max out America's credit card.

There is no defense for the fiscal policies of this administration. Playing the race card is yet another example of liberals employing the tactic of attacking the messenger when they cannot justify their own position against the charges lobbied against them.

David Adkinson, Evans

Ol' Dave didn't produce a
Unpublished

Ol' Dave didn't produce a single original thought with his poor observations on race. Pres. Carter did NOT say ALL the opposition was caused by racism, but that a significant amount IS based on racial animosity. A difference; but the uneducated citizens also have short attention span and listening skills. Further proof is, (only skilled intellectuals trained in diversity) can easily dissect the code words and expose the hidden bias. Historically, if asked, ALL non-minorities will say, "there is not a prejudice bone in my body, his body, her body, their bodies" or "I don't hate anyone" but look at the historical evidence. Somebodies in that group DID commit murders, lynchings, rapes, employment discrimination, Constitutional violations, and so on. Which means dishonesty is nothing new on matters of race, but this president is exposing it in all quarters. For example, this fiscal responsibility charge is shrouded in racial animosity because Bush did worse by borrowing from China, but that was OK. (that proves Carter's point) Then, there is little diversity in the (R) party, so racial charges will easily stick...so U want to get rid of racism charges, get some color in the party.

I happen to agree with the

I happen to agree with the author of this letter too. I wont support this Obama when all he does is spend and knows he spends the money with no end in sight. Heck, I didnt support Bush under those conditions either. Bush knew exactly what he was doing by giving out those tax rebates, and that didnt do much for our economy boosting either.

The last resort ruse of the

The last resort ruse of the race card was predicted for this president's defense before he won the primary. It was just never predicted to be used so soon and so often. Does he really have NO other defense for his actions? America disagrees with his philosophy and policies so it has to be racism because of the color of his skin? and we have three more years of this chant? Voters, please clean the house and senate in 2010. This one trick pony and his supporters need to go ... NOW.

Who stated that racism had

Who stated that racism had any thing to do with our fiscal situation?I thought Carter was referring to some of those that opposes the President on every issues without any knowledge of those issues, simply because of his race. All one has to do is read the daily rants and raves posted on this site and get only a small sample of that. Especially the ones who are in denial about the President race and can only stomach a "Mixed"President and not a Black one.

Nice point nicely put,

Nice point nicely put, Retired Army. Most of these Depends Packers will blame the new census results (an Acorn commie plot though it's been conducted since 1790) on the race card. And they'll probably be right when it turns out that African-Americans are the new minority. Latinos. The other dark meat.

whipping post. As of today

whipping post. As of today the left is taking a different tact...the right is no longer racist. According to Bill Clinton they are conspirators. The "vast right wing conspiracy" is back to make "O" fail. Paranoia sets in again. This has to be the most paranoid administration in history. Remember the scene in the Cain Mutiny where the captain keeps rolling the stress balls in his hand while saying they were all against me it's not my fault. It's GW fault...he is secretly holding meetings in texas to recruit "Conspirators"and don't forget those secret codes and subliminals fox news is sending out to the "UNDERGROUND"

It may not be racism but Bush

It may not be racism but Bush passed TARP I and I didn't see one tea party 700 billion of taxpayer money right into the hands of poorly managed companies. Passed with republican votes and all. Could have heard a rat relieve itself on cotton the repubs were so silent. But, I guess it is just partisanship.

Racism did play a part in

Racism did play a part in creating this financial crisis. Banks were forced to loan to those who were high risk and did so because of fear of being charged with racism and facing federal fines. Anytime you bring race into a decision you create problems whether you think you are doing it for good or evil. Good decisions cannot involve the race of the person.

concerned native the dims passed the tarp bill in fact i believe the few who vote againt were repub. but it didnot matter a lot of conservatives didnot want it passed we do not believe in the prevailing wisdom to big to fail..this was the first step in outlandish govt spending and control of the private sector. it is the takeover attempt by the obama admin that galvinized the movement against the govt. compounded with their utter stupidity for the stimulus bill a pork ridden political bill never read, the omni bill that was heavy porked barrel never read, the cap and trade bill in the house passed and never read and the work on the health bill that will be pork barreled and never will be read when passed. gm chryslar czars etc this govt is out of control the dollar is being devalued thru printing and borrowing if this cant galivnize people nothing can. it started with bush and perfected by obama my freedoms are to precious to ignore or give to a govt that is out of control.
