Josey will play its first home game of the season Friday against Cross Creek. Construction of a new track at White Road Stadium had forced the Eagles to give up their home opener against Richmond Academy, which was scheduled for Sept. 11. They will have three home games this season.
The stadium played host to a JV game Tuesday and will be ready to go this Friday, Josey coach John Noah said. Josey (0-3) will be shooting for its first win and also its first points since the season opener.
"It's very good for us," Noah said. "We're looking forward to it."
Cross Creek can match its win total from a year ago with a victory. The Razorbacks won 14-6 last season.
SCOUTING REPORT: The best game this week in Region 3-AAAA might be the one taking place in the stands.
Two of the region's three unbeaten teams are off. So are two other teams, which means there's going to be plenty of scouting going on at the other three region games.
Hephzibah, Richmond Academy and Lakeside are all unbeaten in the region.
Only Lakeside has a game this week (vs. Harlem). Expect plenty of coaches and assistants there and at Glenn Hills-Evans.
SPREAD IT OUT: Lakeside continues to spread the ball around on offense. It has produced 61 points through three games yet does not have a 100-yard rusher.
Deandre Dismuke leads the Panthers with 92 yards on a team-best 27 carries. Four players have rushed at least 10 times, and nine Panthers have caught at least one pass. Ben Brooks has a team-high 136 yards receiving.
Quarterbacks Mark Weidenaar and Ben Wilson have each passed for at least 171 yards.
