There should be a death-and-taxes panel to replace the end-of-life panel because of the inevitability of death and taxes is well-known. So the following conversations between the panel and a U.S. citizen would go like this:
Citizen 1: "I am older than 65, unemployed, do not pay taxes and cannot afford health insurance. What do you recommend?
Panel: We recommend death.
Citizen 2: I am a Republican and cannot afford health care. What can you recommend?
Panel: We recommend immediate death.
Citizen 3: I need a colonoscopy and need to know what I should do.
Panel: Wait a minute! We'll turn on a light in here. Hmm. Everything looks fine. That will be $1 million.
Citizen 3: I can't afford that!
Panel: Then we recommend death.
Citizen 3: I pay taxes!
Panel: Speaking of taxes, do you know gravesites are now government rentals? There's a decomposing fee, a waste disposal fee and a fine for loitering. Further, if the Lord comes again we charge a Resurrection tax and a fee to fill the hole left behind. It would be a danger for those of us who need to clean up afterward.
Yes, so much to look forward to in the new world of liberalism.
Clifford Henning, Graniteville, S.C.
What do Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, Daffy Duck and Clifford Henning have in common?
They can all see where the fantasy of socialism leads?
The ACES published this letter. It says a lot more about the AC than the letter writer. This makes the CSRA look bad to outsiders reading this paper. It is a senseless letter and I am being kind.
It's fairly obvious to some that the LTE is a gross exaggeration, just as TechLover's extremely humorous post is. The point is, once the country gives itself up to total government control, improvement can only come after a total collapse and revolt. Is that the preferable path?
Don't get your loincloth in a wad!
This writer's paranoid fantasy is not worth the time to debate...
I can't die. I can't afford the death tax the Democrats are bringing back.
Another gem from a South Carolina educated scholar. Because the editorial staff approved it, they must agree that it is truthful, articulate, intersperced with verified data, and an honest estimate of the healthcare in america. OOPS, now everyone knows why S.C. is dead last in education in the entire civilized world.
Oh yeah, disssman, like you can't recognize satire or exaggeration.
I like Mr. Henning's letter. It is a change of pace and a great satire. Posters: lighten up!
