Shawn Mullins, singer-songwriter contest today

The Westobou Festival celebrates pop music tonight, with Shawn Mullins and The Augusta Chronicle's Singer-Songwriter Contest.

Shawn Mullins will headline the concert tonight at Augusta Common and follow the seven finalists from The Chronicle's Singer-Songwriter Contest.

The seven Singer Songwriters start at 5 p.m. on the Global Stage on Augusta Common at the Arts in the Heart of Augusta Festival. Mr. Mullins headlines the concert, taking the stage about 9 p.m.

Both performances are included in festival admission, which is $7.

Mr. Mullins is best known for the songs Lullaby and Shimmer . He will take the stage with Augusta musician Pat Blanchard.

Ryan Gay will lead off the sets by the finalists, followed by Great Day in the Morning, Chris Ndeti, Will McCranie, Joe Stevenson, Adam Doolittle and Ronnie Hill.

Judges are singer-songwriter Jesse Colin Young, Augusta Mayor Deke Copehaver, and Symphony Orchestra Augusta Musical Director Shizuo Z Kuwahara.

First place will win $400 and an entertainment prize package. Second place wins $200; and third place, $100.
