Politician rightly buried at Arlington

Regarding Sen. Edward Kennedy's burial at Arlington National Cemetery ("Politician wrongly buried at Arlington," Sept. 8):

By Arlington's rules, he was qualified to be buried there by virtue of being honorably discharged from active-duty military, and having held an elective office of the U.S. government. Whether someone finds it "distasteful" doesn't factor into the rules for burial.

This country is a nation of laws. Arlington is a special place for special people. The Majority of Americans enjoy the benefits of those laid to rest there, but are ignorant of the rules involved with getting authorization to be buried there. Most veterans know the rules, but won't be authorized to get there. Thats OK but its also good that a citizen took the time to find out the truth, instead of listening to others. Good job on getting at the truth. KEEP CHARGING!

Ms. Howard, since you want to

Ms. Howard, since you want to discuss this issue, Congress passed a law in 1997 preventing those who have been convicted of capital crimes from being interned at national cemeteries. If justice had been served, Kennedy would have been convicted for leaving Mary Jo to die in the car he was driving when he ran away.

Riverman, yes, and if justice

Riverman, yes, and if justice were being served, Bush, Cheney, and Karl Rove would all be in prison now, too. So what's your point? Just think how many are now lying in Arlington BECAUSE of Bush and Cheney.

DEEPSOUTH, they're now being joined by those there BECAUSE of Obama. In case you didn't see it, Obama hasn't declared victory in Iraq and Afghanistan and pulled our people out. In fact, he sent an additional 5000 troops to Afghanistan. I guess you missed that little nugget of truth.

Like Billy Carter once said

Like Billy Carter once said about Teddy Kennedy. "He wouldn't be able to drive in Georgia for the rest of his life."

If that had been the case, RIVERMAN, he'd have just had his chauffeur drive him. It would have been his duty as a working man you know.
