Doctor made good point on health care

  • Follow Letters

Dr. Randy Cooper's statement during the Stop ObamaCare rally at the Jessye Norman Amphitheatre on Thursday really surprised me.

To paraphrase what he said: People should have the right to choose what health-care provider they go to, and what hospital they want to go to; the doctor should have the right to choose the kind of care he gives you. This is exactly what President Obama advocates, and this is exactly what the insurance companies don't want you to have.

Congratulations, Dr. Cooper, for getting on the right side of health care reform, as so many other doctors have.

Well acording to our President, even though we are short in the medical field now, his administration if allowed to pass health care (which they should easily have done if just the democrats along agreed) will somehow ensure enough medical professionals for 40 million additional person who currently don't see Doctors on a standard basis. He will correct all of the problems of medicare thus saving us 500 Billion and with the public option lower insurance costs thus saving another 500 billion so he will not raise our national debt a penny nor raise our taxes. Thanks Mr. President since in 200 days, you raised our national debt more than all other past presidents combined to exceed 9 trillion dollars. Anyone with 1/2 a brain know there is no way our government (no matter who is in charge) can provide medical care for 40 million more people at no expense to the tax payers, it is an outright lie and simply isn't possible. If you think the 500 Billion in medicare fraud and waste is a problem now just wait till you here the figures if we allow the government to take over all health care. This is just a disaster waiting to happen and WE will be paying for it if it passes.

this story of a baby born 2 days premature of the govt's guidelines for providing care and was left alone, breathing on its on for two hours til it died is what you will get when the progressives agenda of death is implemented into your health plan. read it and weep..................

Did you notice the "number of uninsured" went down to 30 million last night. Obama conveniently removed the 11 million or so illegal aliens from his speech. BUT HE STILL INTENDS TO COVER THEM WITH YOUR TAX DOLLARS. Now, if he would take out the illegal aliens AND the number who CHOOSE not to buy insurance we would be down to about 10 million, a much more manageable number since they already get free care. DO NOT BE FOOLED OLD FOLKS. OBAMA INTENDS TO ROB MEDICARE AND GIVE THE MONEY TO THOSE WHO HAVE NEVER HIT A LICK AT A SNAKE AND NEVER PAID INTO YOUR MEDICAL CARE SYSTEM.

Obama made the statement that illegals would not be covered. If illegals receive care and it is billed to the taxpayers, then I would say that they are really covered. The Immigration laws state that employers will be fined if they employ illegals. If there is no enforcement - and there will be none under Attorney General Holder - then the words are meaningless!

Alternative care is slowly taking a load off the doctors. This growth is increasing as folks find out about NAET, EFT and other alternative apporaches. 80% of doctor's care could be eliminated but I know the number will never go that high as many reject advanced alternative care. Anytime there is a problem God loves us and makes sure there is an answer out there for us. Make it your goal to become "indepently healthy"

LaTwon, the baby was miscarried. Per the article, studies have shown that less than 1% of such babies survive. That is why it has been determined not to be in the best interest of the baby to provide life sustaining services. The advice to the mother to enjoy the minutes that she had was correct. This was her sixth miscarriage. Perhaps it's time she looks at adoption if she wan't another child. Seems pretty irresponsible to continue putting babies lives at risk in her miscarriage prone womb. Where is the conservative mantra of personal responsibility?

FaceTheMusic

Republicans only care about babies from conception to birth. After birth, they're on their own.

LaTwon

bs. if the baby had been born 2 days later it would have received care. some jerk wad in a room decides this or that so they put it on a shelf to die. the all powerful state, the new god.
progressives suck

most republicans have parents. they usually dont breed at age 12 for a check.

Ah, gee soldout you let me down. You didn't mention oil swishing along with your "tap, tap, tapping" and "muscle testing" for allergies.

I feel so much better after listening to our president last night. He has certainly cleared up many misconceptions that we had about the reform. We can only hope that the bill will become law soon and our president can sign it into law. We are all very excited after the joint session last night of democrats and Republicans.

I just can't believe all the things I hear, because there has been so many lies told about this health care thing. I personally want to see the doctors of my choosing. I have good insurance and don't want anyone messing with it including Obama. All you people that didn't work and sat on your backside, I don't feel sorry for you. There are jobs out there, evryone wants to start at the top of the ladder. Get off your lazy duffs and go to work.

Mr. dolin, evidently you have bought a gallon or two of BimbObama's health care snake oil. If you believe he can add even 30M additonal people to our current health care system wiithout over loading that system due to shortage of doctors, hospital beds, etc, and pay for it by reducing Medicare fraud, wate and abuse, why hasn't the government done so? Anyone with a mentality above moron sould realize that there would be no choice but to ration health care and if the government is involved, it will always be the "bottom lne/cost savings" and NOT good health care. The DIMs have been in charge two 1/2 years now and I see NOTHING they've done in this area as they are too busy having hearings tryng to embarrass the Bush admin (to no avail).

jack

Anyone with an intellect aboe that of moron, should realize this isn't possible and MUST lead to rationing of halth care (especially to the elderly). When the government runs the program, it is always the "bottom line" or coast savings, NOT good health care.

"this story of a baby born 2 days premature of the govt's guidelines for providing care and was left alone," How does Britain's guidelines have anything to do with the US?

LaTurd is trying to imply that the health care reform will lead to killing premies. Never mind the science that says they have less than 1% chance of living a normal life without serious deformaties and health issues. LaTurd is most likely a birther, so take everything laTurd says with more than a few grains of salt...

I don't know where you people live, or what health insurance plan you belong to, but I am self employed and have been (for years) paying(individual not family plan) over $250 per month with a $5,000 dollar yearly deductible. I finally had to use my benefits and the insurance company (Assurant Health) tried to deny benefits and took me through a fight when I was also battling for my life. I'm better now, however it is still a battle to get authorization for tests and treatment my doctor recommends. My doctor and I always have to go through some insurance company employee for authorization. I believe this is standard behavior for all insurance companies - collect and invest the premiums you pay, but fight to deny benefits when its time for them to pay. I just hope none of you have to find out from experience that you are not as protected as you might think. Instead of attacking President Obama, I think all citizens should challenge insurance companies (for problems stated above), drug companies (drugs are to expensive) and congress(because they cater to lobbyists from both industries). Finally, we all have to be vigilant about our health and staying actively involved in our treatment

I think if Medicare would require hospitals to provide patients with a detailed bill, many billions could be saved. For an example, a few years ago a friend was hospitalized and under medicare. He spent 2 days and one night in the hospital and the charge was roughly 20,000 dollars. When he got his bill, they were charging him for 7 boxes of kleenex as 50 dollars a box. The sad part is he wasn't even awake the whole time he was there. He was delivered to and from Eisenhower under sedation. I won't go into what they were charging for aspirin and they did charge a ridiculous amount per pill, but again he never woke up. Given examples like my friend, I see a huge savings that culd be realized if we were billed properly.

I'm with you disssman- My husband was in the hospital and charged for a bedside commode, an enormous price, and was bedridden. Charged $68.00 for diapers, 12 to be exact, that didn't even fit. Charged for body wash and we washed him with soap we took from home. I am going to appeal these charges. I could go on because that's not all, but I'm sure you know what I mean. You can get a itemized statement if you request it.
