Ex-Jacket makes Giant leap
From Wire Reports
Wednesday, September 09, 2009

Former Augusta GreenJackets ace Madison Bumgarner, named the South Atlantic League's Most Outstanding Pitcher in 2008, made his major league debut Tuesday night for the San Francisco Giants against the San Diego Padres.

The Giants scratched Tim Lincecum from his scheduled start because of inflammation in his back and purchased Bumgarner's contract. The organization's top pitching prospect, the 20-year-old left-hander likely will go to the bullpen after the outing.
