Veteran receiver Robert Ferguson and former Georgia quarterback D.J. Shockley were among 13 players cut by the Atlanta Falcons.

The cuts leave rookie John Parker Wilson, of Alabama, as the No. 3 quarterback behind Matt Ryan and Chris Redman .

The Falcons also cut rookie defensive tackle Vance Walker , a seventh-round draft pick from Georgia Tech.

Shockley was the No. 3 quarterback last season. The Falcons also cut another former Georgia player, running back Thomas Brown .

EAGLES: Placed quarterback Michael Vick on the exempt/commissioner's permission list. The Vick move allowed Philadelphia to keep A.J. Feeley as their No. 3 quarterback.

PANTHERS: Placed former Laney standout Corvey Irvin on injured reserve. Irvin was Carolina's third-round pick. He hurt his knee in Thursday's preseason game.

REDSKINS: Placed quarterback Colt Brennan on injured reserve with hip and hamstring injuries, and his competition for the backup job, Chase Daniel , was one of the final cuts.

SEAHAWKS: Cornerback Marcus Trufant will miss the first six games because of a disc issue in his back, and safety Brian Russell was cut, amid reports the team is about to sign Lawyer Milloy .

GIANTS: Super Bowl hero David Tyree was released in a move confirmed by his agents, Mark and Michael Clouser .

BILLS: Released running back Dominic Rhodes a day after firing coordinator Turk Schonert .

RAVENS: Traded defensive back Derrick Martin to Green Bay for offensive lineman Tony Moll .

SAINTS: Acquired tight end David Thomas from New England for a seventh-round draft choice in 2011.

The team also cut quarterback Joey Harrington and veteran defensive end Paul Spicer .
