Georgia running back Caleb King , who was beaten out for the starting job by Richard Samuel , will likely miss the No. 13 Bull-dogs' season opener Saturday at No. 9 Oklahoma State because of a lingering hamstring injury.

King entered preseason drills as the No. 1 tailback, but he was bothered by his ailing hamstring and fell behind both Samuel and redshirt freshman Carlton Thomas on the depth chart.

Coach Mark Richt also announced after Wednesday's practice that defensive end Kiante Tripp will likely stay at home because of a shoulder "stinger."

SOUTH CAROLINA: Defensive tackle Kenny Davis was suspended for the tonight's opening game at North Carolina State for violating team rules and did not make the trip to Raleigh, N.C.

Davis is a 6-foot-3, 287-pound redshirt freshman who is listed as the backup for senior starter Nathan Pepper .

GEORGIA TECH: Running back Roddy Jones has missed most of the preseason practice schedule while recovering from a dislocated wrist. He finally joined contact drills this week but with so little time to prepare he might seem unlikely to play in Saturday's opener against Jacksonville State.

Even so, coach Paul Johnson isn't ruling Jones out.

"Roddy Jones is available if we want to play him," Johnson said before adding he may make "a game-time decision" on the sophomore. "Physically, he can go if we need to have him."

Sophomore Embry Peeples and junior Anthony Allen are listed as the starters at A-back, where Jones started last season.

MICHIGAN: One of the business partners involved in the real estate venture at the root of a federal lawsuit against Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez is an accused felon and banned Clemson University booster.

Clegg Lamar Greene, of Clemson, S.C., was arrested Dec. 29 and charged with multiple counts of breach of trust.

According to documents provided by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, Green is accused of pilfering thousands of dollars from Palmetto State Enterprises LLC between 2005 and 2007 to pay debts on various business deals, buy furniture and have cosmetic surgery.

Greene had set up the corporation several years earlier, using it to help fund several condominium developments -- including one involving Rodriguez, a former coach at Clemson.

ALABAMA: Defensive end Brandon Deaderick was released from the hospital Tuesday after being shot in the arm during a robbery attempt at an off-campus apartment.

- The Crimson Tide will have two of their key offensive players for the opener Saturday night against No. 7 Virginia Tech.

The NCAA reinstated receiver Julio Jones and tailback Mark Ingram on the condition that they repay the cost of a Gulf Coast fishing trip paid for by businessman Curtis Anderson during the spring.

An Alabama spokesman said the money had been paid to charity.

GEORGIA STATE: Will play its first football game on Sept. 2, 2010, against Shorter and wrap up its inaugural season against powerhouse Alabama on Nov. 20.

BOWLS: The Motor City Bowl in Detroit has been rechristened as the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl.
