Dems' health care will pass -- no lie

  • Follow Letters

The Republicans claim that they want health-care reform. That is a lie!

The Republicans claim that, under "Obamacare," senior citizens will be chosen to die. That is a lie! The Republicans claim that all illegal aliens will get health care. That is a lie! The Republicans claim that the health care bill includes federal funding for abortions. That is a lie!

The Republicans claim that the public option will begin socialism. That is a lie! The Republicans claim that health care will be rationed for senior citizens. That is a lie! The Republicans claim that the public option will prevent you using the doctor of your choice. That is a lie!

The Republicans want to defeat Obama by blocking needed reform of our health care system. That is no lie! The Republicans have encouraged fringe groups to bring their guns to town hall meetings. That is no lie!

The Republicans have launched a "Swift Boat" campaign against the Obama administration by using innuendo, theatrics and lies to debate the health-care reform bills. While Rep. Paul Broun kicks the bill around, the Republicans cheer.

What the Republicans can't imagine is that a national health-care reform bill will come out of Congress and will be signed by the president. How do I know this? Because millions of working people cannot afford the current premiums for health care, and the Democrats are in control and will see to its passage, despite Republican stonewalling and lying.

That is a promise, and no lie!

Lowell Greenbaum

Augusta

(The writer is chairman of the Richmond County Democratic Party.)

The Democrats could have

The Democrats could have passed this outrageous stupid bill without the republicans but thank God some were smart enough not to, no lie. The govt. is deplorable at running health care now for the Vetrans, medicare and medicade are almost bankrupt along with Social Security. The USPS will loose 9 billion in 2009 but the Democratic Congress just gave the CEO of the post office a nice bonus for the year. Rampant fraud in EBT cards, section 8, etc. and tax rebate checks mailed to convicts in jail. Yeah, we really need the government to take over health care in America. The republicans aren't lying when they say changes are needed they are just smart enough to know the govt. does not even need to edge towards a govt. run health care program no matter who is in office, even a republican. If Obama and the Dems want to do something positive for the country, how about trying to bring anyting under their control into budget while having it actually function properly. Help our vetrans first and if you can get their health care right then maybe offer to help the rest of us. Better yet, work on reducing the 9 Trillion defecit being created by Obama, Pelosi, Frank, and Dodd - Idiots.

And the fearless leader of the local democrats should be the first to sign up for it! But then again, he has probably been far too busy reading these posts and turning in the names of all who oppose Obamacare to the White House. Shame on you, Lowell Greenbaum!

The Augusta Chronicle proudly brings you: Greenbaum's monthly diatribe!! YAAAWWWWNNNN. This guy is like a broken record. Reminds me of that one line from Shakespeare. You know, the one that talks about sound and fury, signifying nothing? Yeah, that one.

carcraft, now one in America

carcraft, now one in America will ever be turned down for emergency care plain and simple. So illegals and whoever else will continue to beat the system that way. He is right in his letter something will get passed and republicans have lied a lot about healthcare. I just can't understand how every republican can go on national TV and say they know we need reform and from 2000-2006 didn't lift a finger. For me that let's me know they don't want any reform it is just lip service.

Its going to pass, but it

Its going to pass, but it won't be what people expect. Just like the cash for clunkers, I wonder how many dealers are really going to get paid? It takes allot of money for doctors to run their practices. I wonder how many can afford to, float the bill, while they are waiting for the government to pay for their services? Watch the hospitals and Doctors offices be flooded with people, and the government will not be able to handle the paper work and payment process. How are the Hospitals and Doctors offices going to float the bills?

the only item in his LTE that

the only item in his LTE that is NOT a lie is that he is chairman of the local dems..he needs a lesson not only economics the big pork bill that was passed off as a stimulus bill and omni bill.....and the cap and kill business bill but they could also use some reading lessons since they pass bill without reading them.not to mention lessons in civics the repb. cant stop the dems if they want to shove something down the americans throat. they have the votes. one hardly knows how to respond to such drivel. it is a sad day when a normal and taxpaying person goes to a political rally and then is descibed as a fringe member of society. well lowell this person has gone will goe because i am still in a free country despite you and your parties effort to undermine the constitution.

Tigger, you insist on making

Tigger, you insist on making assumptions about people's lives based on their opinions on this board. Why do you think GAC has made poor decisions? Why do you think he wants someone to pay for his insurance? That's not an argument, that's character assassination and you haven't a single fact to go on. Why don't you and Roeschen and all the others who assume that pro-reform folks are deadbeats go workout...or meditate...or something that relieves some of the festering resentment and anger in your souls?

Good article and thats no lie. The writer correctly identifies the approach of the other side to stop health care reform and their history tells the story: Opposed the creation of The Social Security Act 1930s; Opposed Civil Rights in 1960s; Opposed voting Rights for African-Americans 1960s; Opposed the establishment of MLK Day (Ronald Regan)1980s; Opposed sanctions against South Africa for apartheid 1990s; Opposed the increase of a living wage 2000s; and now opposed to the overhaul of health care. Just from a humane standpoint, republicans are rarely working towards "A More Perfect Union."

When I graduated from U of I

When I graduated from U of I at Champaign Urbana in '71 it was a very liberal school with liberal ideas. I was a young fool and thought the point of view had merit. When I became a self-employed adult, I learned that the liberal ideas were for children that hadn't learned responsibility yet. Some of us grow up and some just grow older. The choice is ours.
