Talk about a lack of taste and tact... I certainly didn't agree with everything Kennedy did, but now is NOT the time. Talking about the cartoon****** http://www.draftbutch.blogspot.com Read the platform
Ted Kennedy was many things. He was a survivor, a standardbearer, a dogged public servant. He was one of the most partisan legislators of the past 40 years, the left's biggest hero -- and yet, one of the most admired and liked by colleagues of all stripes.
His kind may never come again: a 100 percent zealous liberal who never compromised his principles, but nonetheless reached out across the aisle on a regular basis to compromise with conservatives. He was a throwback to the days when you could do that -- when Republicans and Democrats could disagree about what day it is, but break bread afterward.
As divided and shrill as today's politics are, Ted Kennedy may be the last of his breed. For that, we are deeply sorry.
We agreed with about 2 percent of Kennedy's views -- and we can't exactly recall what that might have been. But we respect his service, his tenure and his passion for the things he believed in.
Of course, the "mainstream" media are already tripping over themselves to exaggerate Kennedy's appeal and accomplishments and to tamp down the controversies that dogged him.
The same media that spun the myth of Camelot will no doubt portray Kennedy as a victim of a series of tragedies -- of even Chappaquiddick, which is often characterized as a tragedy for Kennedy, rather than for Mary Jo Kopechne and her family.
In truth, Ted Kennedy was an infinitely fortunate man -- insulated, nurtured and nudged along by Camelot lore; no behavior could rock that mythical world or jar him from it. And few public figures have ever been so forgiven for so egregious a sin.
Indeed, the incident is hailed as a Kennedy triumph in some quarters.
"Few of us experience something as soul-testing as that," gushes a presidential historian for ABCNews.com, "but when we can weigh it against the succeeding 40 years and draw some linkage, who would believe this story would end this way, so essentially triumphant?"
So be it. The tributes will flow, and many of them will be more than warranted.
Expect the left and their compliant media to try to resuscitate Obamacare as a "tribute" to the felled Liberal Lion. This was his issue, his dream. Let's honor him with it, we'll be told. Let's name it after him!
Whether the people want such a "tribute" foisted on them or not, presumably.
Even if Kennedy or any other man were worthy of such a tribute, nationalized health care would be a decidedly inglorious one. For one thing, we question whether the federal government has any right to structure our personal health care. For another thing, all indications are -- from other countries, from fiscal projections, from our own federal government's dismal track record in bankrupting Medicare and Social Security -- federal health care would be a disaster.
But perhaps such a tribute would be fitting after all for Kennedy -- who ironically has passed just as his dream of a bursting federal government is coming true.

I am disgusted that they are going to defile the sacred and honored land of Arlington Cemetary with this piece of garbage. Our true heros deserve better.
If you talk about Ted Kennedy, you are talking about the lack of taste and tact. If the truth were told, while we discuss this non-subject, Rome is burning. You can bet plenty is happening in the whitehouse while we're distracted by this death.
Kennedy was one of my least favorite people. He slandered the charactor of Robert Bork with wild mis representations of Bork's rulings. For much of Kennedy's career as a liberal lion he was a well inebriated skirt chasing dysfunctrional liberal lion who, as I said, had no trouble slandering others. The greatest irony (I really do believe God has a sense of humor) is Kennedy's political canniving to keep Met Romney from appointing a Senator if Kerry had won against Bush! The law Kennedy fought to pass in Massachusetts now prevents Kennedy's seat from being quickly filled. There needs to be a repeal of the law he worked to pass or wait until a special election can be held to fill Kennedy's seat! This reduces the Democratics senate seats from the magic 60 to 59. The Democrts do not have a filibuster proof Senate at the moment and may not for a while. This is a fitting tribute to Kennedy's abuse of power and may well become his legacy!
Not only is Chappaquiddick something that won't go away, but the William Kennedy Smith episode will be remembered, too. Ted represented the squalid side of the Kennedy royal empire.
It's good to know Augusta has a editorial staff and so many posters that have never sinned. "let he who is without sin cast the first stone" so since you guys are tripping over each other to cast stones I can only assume you are without sin. Maybe I need to move back to such a godly land or maybe I shouldn't I don't want to be stoned. Because I believe we all have sinned and come short of the glory of god.
So now blame Sen. Kennedy for his grown Nephew's conviction? I am happy to see that the comments made by the hate filled crowd here are in the minority.
Blame? It just was a comment that Ted held up the Kennedy's well deserved reputation.
Yes, we've all sinned and fallen short. But, that in no way diminishes the truth about the darkside of TK. Facts are facts, even if they are distasteful and sad.
Isn't it amazing how in death, a drunk, womanizing, self centered, egotistical elitist becomes a hero. He was caught cheating at harvard. Protected from going to Korea in the army. Senate seat bought and paid for by his family. everything the left claims to stand against. And in Death he is canonized. I'm sure Mary Jo Kopechne who drown in a car he swam away from is waiting to say a few words to him....
may he rest in peace but he was no hero......
Irish, I'm not certain the left is against buying a seat.
To lay the likes of Ted Kennedy in Arlington is a slap in the face of our honored dead.
It may take a while, but karma is going to bite all you ugly people in the [filtered word]. If I didn't believe that what goes around, comes around, I couldn't sleep at night. It'll get you, wait and see.
Haters everywhere...
Irish; so it is okay to memoralize a drug addict, questionable pedophile, and a drug addict wife beater; but we must tear apart a man who despite his many sins gave 40+ years of his life to attempting to improve our lot as a nation.
i have got to agree, that the man dying did not turn him instantly into a saint, and those of you now worshiping this sad pathetic man need to step back and look at your lives, you have got to be missing something to choose to worship this creature...
Let's go over Chappaquiddick. Kenedy left May Jo in a few feet of water with an air pocket in the car. The diver who pulled her out felt she could have lived a couple hours. Kennedy never went to the houses near the accident to seek help. He reported it the next day. The judge who suspended his jail time said Kennedy would be punished far more than anything the court could impose. As it turns out, he wasn't punished much at all.
This [filtered word] should have spent 47 years in prison instead of the Senate. At least now he is finally being punished for his crimes by the ultimate judge. He should ABSOLUTELY NOT be buried in Arlington with true heros. The local landfill is a more fitting resting place.
Trouble: You got to be missing something too, uderstand there is a difference between being respectful and worshipping, just like there is a difference between being critical and being a hypocrite..Nobody is worshipping him, it's just some of us don't see things like you...See, if we all thought the same and agreed on everything life would not be interesting or worth living...It says something about you when your foes weep for you, given that you were foes and rarely agreed...A good foe that challenges you makes you stronger...Unfortunately we are at a point where good foes are dying, and we are left with cyber activist and people who spend more time typing and less time living and doing (less opinion more action HINT HINT)...Truth is your opinion or words don't really matter, along with mine and everyone elses, the man is dead and his work will forever speak for him, as well as the good and bad...If GWB died today I will say the same for him...If Sanford hanged himself I would say the same, and given I have nothing good to say about either I would let those who admired either have their time before I come in ripping them apart for their transgressions..
kennedy by no means should ever be classified a hero. He was a spoiled man who thought that he was above the law and an alcoholic who got away with manslaughter at the least. He is typical of the way people from that corridor of the U.S. thinks and operates. He was always sat on a pedestal, thanks to the dimwit crowd.
Kennedy was for Kennedy and nobody else period. He was a con-artist and bum with every body else's money,This man was a criminal who got your money for his enjoyment of wasting it..
Nice to see all the perfect folks throwing their castigations at a deceased man. While I did not agree with all that Ted Kennedy stood for, he did serve his country. If his family decides to have him buried in Arlington Cemetary, that's okay with me (I have several relatives buried there, including my father and my brother); but they may opt to have him buried with members of his own family, it is their choice, and no one has the right to deny that choice. There are no perfect people buried in Arlington anymore than there are perfect people still among the living.
Here is a fitting tribute to the "liberal (FILL IN THE BLANK) HICUP!
margle, Arlington needs to be reserved for the real heros of this country--not for a crook and a thief and many other names who was just a self server!
More haters
No AA---more people pointing out what that slimeball really was!
You may even find one or two bills that Sen. Kennedy sponsored/ co-sponsored that you agree with:
Protection and Advocacy for Mentally Ill Individuals Act of 1986, the Nutrition Labeling and Education Act of 1990, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, the Ryan White
Comprehensive AIDS Resources Emergency Act of 1990, the National Institutes of Health Revitalization Act of 1993, the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act of 1994, the Health
Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, the Food and Drug Administration Modernization Act of 1997, the creation of the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) in
1997 ('HIPAA'), the Children's Health Act of 2000, the Project BioShield Act of 2003, the Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness Act of 2005, the FDA Amendments Act of 2007, and the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2008.

Tact and taste is something this board lacks. This man is dead and people are calling him a [filtered word] (to which I think pot meet kettle). As far as him being punished by the ultimate judge, just because small minded simps on this board won't forgive people doesn't mean God doesn't. So, before you getting on this board judging others sins think about your own and the things you need to be forgiven and stop casting stones.
I bet if South Carolina's governors name was Mark Kennedy, instead of Sanford, he could be forgiven for what he did.
As I have often said the right and in the case the religous right can't see their hypocrisy. Almost all of the people speaking negatively about Kennedy will be in church sunday clapping, singing, listening to sermons, and reading scripture totally contradictory to their posts. Can someone from the right show me anything in the bible that condones or suggests their posts.
