A large crowd of women were lined up outside Augusta State University's Christenberry Field House Saturday morning for the 10th Annaul Care Fair.

Instead of holding their own health fair, they would attend other events, Mrs. Richards said.

"I saw this event in the paper, and we decided that this would be a good event for us to attend," the Augusta resident said of Saturday's CareFair. "I've really enjoyed it because of the variety of topics that are addressed here."

They were among more than 1,300 people who attended the 10th annual event at Augusta State University's Christenberry Fieldhouse.

It included a health fair, a salon area, a fashion show and several demonstrations.

Exhibitors also provided information on financial counseling, parenting and home improvement or sold products such as jewelry, makeup, clothing and laser hair removal services.

Esther Spires of Sardis, Ga., attended CareFair for a second year.

"I enjoyed everything last year, so I wanted to come back," she said. "I really enjoyed the fashion show this year. The event has been great."

Reba Black, of Waynesboro, Ga., liked the variety.

"I like seeing so many different things and learning about what each group has to offer," she said. "My favorite part was getting the massage."

It was Cheri Mosier's first time attending the event.

"It's great that they bring all these services and businesses together in one place. It makes it convenient," the Barnwell, S.C., resident said. "A lot of times you don't know about what's out there because you're busy with other things. Now that I know about this event, I would like to come back next year, if I can."

The event was sponsored by The Augusta Chronicle and Doctors Hospital.
