MITCHELL, Ga. - Mildred Rose Wachsmuth Copeland, 95, entered into rest Friday, August 7, 2009 at the Gibson Health and Rehabilitation Center in Gibson, GA. The memorial service will be on Saturday, August 22, 2009, at 11:00AM at the Mitchell U.M.C. with Reverend Mary Griswell officiating. After the service, everyone is welcome to join the family at the Copeland home place for the scattering of the ashes. Born in Ontario Canada to Otto and Mamie Klipert Wachsmuth, Mildred became a registered nurse and citizen of the U.S. After nursing at several hospitals in Atlanta, Mildred moved to Mitchell over 30 years ago to take a position at the Sandersville Hospital. She retired at the age of 75 from Jefferson Hospital, ran a Christmas tree farm, and was very active in the Mitchell community, working closely with cancer survivors. She was an avid reader but also loved knitting, cross-stitching, and quilting. Being very ingenious and creative, many of her hand-made pieces are on exhibit at The Depot in Mitchell. She had friends of all ages who will miss her and her "twinkling" eyes tremendously. Mildred is survived by her son, Cameron "Butch" (Barbara) Copeland, Braselton, GA; three grandchildren, Cameron Copeland, Jr., Beauford, GA, Christina Copeland, Braselton, GA and Kenneth Copeland, Braselton, GA; a brother, Rolf Wachsmuth, Canada; one nephew, Bill Wachsmuth, Canada; two nieces, Ruth Parent, Canada, and Donna Paul, Canada; special friends, Wanda Swafford, Trish Rooks and Sherry Sturgis; and many more friends and loved ones. In memory of Mildred, memorials may be made to Mitchell U.M.C., c/o Rev. Mary Griswell, 6216 Hwy 102 W, Mitchell, GA 30820. Sign the guestbook at AugustaChronicle.com
