GROVETOWN, Ga. - Entered into rest Saturday, August 15, 2009, Mr. Guillermo Montoya, 78, husband of Mrs. Ester B. Montoya. Funeral services will be held 2:00PM in the Bellevue Memorial Gardens Chapel, Tuesday, August 18, 2009, with the Reverend Lee Lincolnton officiating with Full Military Honors accorded. Interment will be in the Bellevue Memorial Gardens. Mr. Montoya, a native of Velarde, New Mexico, and in 1980 retired from the United States Army having served 21 years in the Military with three tours in Korea, Vietnam and one tour in Germany as Sergeant 1st Class. Mr. Montoya was an Episcopalian Priest and a member of the Holy Spirit Episcopal Missionary Church. His family arrived in August July 7, 1975 stationed at Fort Gordon, sponsoring a family from Laos, Thailand. He was always willing to bring any person in need into his home, his calling. He enjoyed working with his hands, was a fan of the Denver Broncos, keeping current with world events and had an extensive collection of hammers and hats. On August 15, 2009, His Father received him saying, Matthew 25:21, 'Well done, thou good and faithful servant, thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things, enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.' Mr. Montoya received a Bachelors in Criminology from Peppesdine University, St. Leo, Florida; a teaching certificate from Highlands University in New Mexico. He taught at Sand Hills in Special Education, and three years at Harlem High School. In 1994 he became an Ordained Deacon for the Episcopal Church and October 28, 1997, he was ordained to the Diocese of the South Episcopal Missionary Church as a Priest. He was Co-rector until his passing. Survivors include his wife Ester B. Montoya; one son Stephen Paul, Martinez; two daughters, Phyllis Heim and Georgia St. John of Grovetown; one brother Ramon Montoya, New Mexico; two sisters, Clara Miena and Mary Martinez of New Mexico; 5 grandchildren Cassandra, Jacqueline and Coco Heim, Barry and Stuart St. John and the 6th in April 2010. Pallbearers will be members of the Military. Honorary Pallbearers will be Brothers-in-law, Joe, Edward, Johnny, Arthur, Charles and Richard Benavidez.
