When regular citizen "Joe the Plumber" asked an innocent, heartfelt, but challenging question of presidential candidate Barack Obama last year, he ended up getting skewered by the "mainstream" media. Every detail of his past was looked at for possible motives and nefarious associations.
Democratic state officials in Ohio even thumbed through his records illegally to find dirt on him.
That somehow doesn't happen with liberals.
A woman at Democratic Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee's town hall meeting in Texas recently claimed to be a pediatrician and stood up to support Jackson-Lee and Obamacare. She even got a hug from the congresswoman, which the Houston Chronicle featured prominently.
One big problem. Well, several, really.
Turns out the woman isn't a doctor after all. Reports indicate she's a graduate social work student who just happens to be enrolled at the same university where Jackson-Lee's husband is vice president for Student Affairs.
In addition, the woman is said to be an Obama organizer who, by the way, seems not to be a constituent of Jackson-Lee's.
Democrats have cynically and hurtfully accused passionate Americans at town halls as being stooges of special interest and such. In truth, Democrats have been the ones sending people to the meetings.
We asked Augusta-area Congressman Paul Broun's office if they'd seen any signs of Obamacare opponents who were tools of special interests. No, they told us -- but they've seen suspicious signs of Democratic manipulation: One day after Democratic officials called to confirm Congressman Broun's contact information, proponents of reform started calling and showing up at the office.
If any of them claimed to be a doctor, we hope Broun's office double-checked it.

This administration is sponsoring "simulated" experts on every turn. From the 11year old "set up" girl at the Obama event to this "doctor" at the Jackson-Lee event. Our charming President was able to con all of the "undecided" voters and all of the uninformed voters with his campaign promises, but now that real life is happening, now that he actually has to produce, he's still running the campaign scam. Taxpayers aren't buying his spiel. They ALL are saying, "Stop It!". Tell the truth, give us some facts, where's the leadership? Many Obama opponents referred to him as an "empty suit" and, so far, he's gone out of his way to prove them right.
Dashiel....Broun earned his Doctor of Medicine from the Medical College of Georgia, so yeah...I guess he DOES "claim" to be a doctor. Shame on him.
I wish the ACES and all republicans would just argue HC reform on its merits do we need it and if so what is the best way to get there. I think it is shame the right wing media is putting up the biggest arguments about death panels and single payer system. Which neither of them are in any of the bills.
Obumbler-(Bowing to the King of Saudi Arabia, IPOD of speaches to queen-lying about the fee Doctors recieve for amputations, $200 million to Palaua to take 17 Gitmo detainees, accusing others of using scare tactics when that is all his arguments amount to, can't get numbers right for unemployment, bypassing normal dipolmatic protocol to move 4 detainees to Bermuda, a verylong list of bumbling in just 6 months)-has been absent on leadership in the congress to get what he wants in his legeslation agenda, letting congress run the show. No leadership on his legslative measures because he really doesn't understand what he is selling!
It's impossible to argue HC reform when people who haven't read the proposal, tell you that what you have actually READ in the proposal, really isn't in there. I've tried many times and get pounced on by the "experts" who even admit that they haven't read the thing.....yet tell me that I don't know what I'm talking about..........because they heard that it doesn't say what it says.
Here's a proposal for health care reform, and it works for all entitlement programs. If you are on the Government dole, we will pay for your college education. After that, you have 2 years to get a job....after that, you are cut off....forever......completely. NO GOV MONEY EVER AGAIN. It couldn't be more fair and equitable than that.
Tigger that proposal is definitely not fair or equitable to lazy, unmotivated individuals. Shame on you.
How much money do these writers make and what qualifications do they have, because this bunch is saying and printing anything. A Ph.D. is considered a "doctor." Medical doctor is something different, so every "doc" may not be in the medical profession...again, how can such poor performance be rewarded with a salary?
I like the idea that was put up once before. ALL government entitlement people should be placed in a compound and taken care of from cradle to grave. To "earn'" all of these benefits, the people would give up their right to reproduce, vote and associate directly with productive society. THAT would be a successful health care reform that I could vote for. Inclusion in the program would be voluntary. The choice to opt out of the program would also be voluntary.
What doesn't a lady maybe lieing at a town hall have to do with hc reform. I mean this paper has jumped the shark. Back away from reshasing Hannity and do a real editorial.

I think the article said the scams continue to run on an endless loop. This is considered good leadership by some, but not the protesters.

For the 1,000th time this administration is exposed as a bunch of PHONIES. Robert Gibbs and Arlen Specter said that the people at these town hall meetings don't represent the american people. Mmmm....Do they and the poll numbers represent Uranus, fellas? Talk about out of touch...The Carter adminstration all over again. This time around is turning out to be much worse, though.

Much of Obumbler's loony paranoia or projection is repeated in the "mainstream press". The Democrats attempt to subvert, distort and manipulate public opinion should come under the same scrutiny of the press. In Pennsylvania ACORN folks were bussed into a town hall meeting many hours before the meeting and packed the hall so people that lived in that area could not get in to talk to Specter!

And comparing any of the people at a townhall to "Joe the Plumber" isn't accurate. John McCain chose to make Joe a centerpiece of his campaign. Now if Barack start traveling all over the US with this supposedly fake doctor we would have a comparison.
"Suposedly" fake doctor? If she has no PhD, which she doesn't, then she is a CONFIRMED fake doctor. Guess what Joe the Plumber does for a living..............PLUMBING. And the reason McCain used Joe as a centerpiece is because he asked Obama why he was going to raise his taxes and was given the answer that it's good for everyone to steal from the rich and give to the poor. His exact words were "if you spread the money around, it's good for everybody." Karl Marx couldn't have said it better.
