The club passed out nearly 150 bookbags filled with school supplies during the school's registration day Aug. 4. Each bag contained about $50 worth of supplies.

The giveaway was also a way for the club to kick off a partnership with the school, said president James Gray.

"Our club just created a program called Bikers With a Cause. The purpose of the program is to reach out to the school and the community and get involved in the lives of young people," he said.

Club members plan to participate in mentoring and other volunteer efforts at the school.

"Our goal is to make a difference at this school," he said. "We want to support our students and this school in any way that we can."

The school has welcomed the partnership, said Principal Dana Harris.

"I was thrilled that a group from the community wanted to get involved with our school," she said. "The old adage says that it takes a village to raise a child. This group is putting that saying into action."

Kudos to the Dominant Breed motorcycle club - what a great way to help these students start the school year. Keep up the good works, it is appreciated by the community in more ways than one.

I see they have their cute little vests like the other 2,000,000 clubs in the U.S.

hmm

racist name but good cause

Townie

Yeah, what's up with the name of the club???? Childish or scary. I don't know which.

fancypotholder

I think this is a wonderful thing this club is doing. Wouldn't it be wonderful if other clubs like this decided to help local schools. They can have a big influence on the kids and a lot of them need mentors and men they can look up to. I know there are women bikers as well, but most of them are men and they are doing a lot of good things in their communities.

I just don't see where the name is "racist".

anotherday

These guys and ladies rode out front all the way to the airport with the escort a couple of years when my husbands unit went to Iraq. What a sight to see, there was quite a few clubs that did it. They got involved- who cares what their name is- are you involved?

Lost In Translation

I love how other people can post stuff on the ac sites. I made the comment that i am sick and tired of people throwing comments about race that have nothing to do with it. just like hmm saying the name is racist! WTF!!! I made a comment just like i'm doing now and it was pulled because of policy violation. hmmm....what's with the name? why is it racist? did you ever stop to think that by dominant breed, they meant bikers maybe??? Meaning bikers were a dominant breed? I am so sick and tired of you idiots bring race into every single discussion post!!! Dominant breed, keep up the good work! Wish there were more people like you guys helping out the community rather than tearing it down!

Townie

Lost in Translation, yes it was. You are right. This group is to be commended for their good works. But be real.......if it were a group of bald, white guys with that name, could you say the same?

Lost in Trans...I agree with you. This group is making the effort to make a positive difference in these childrens lives...yet people still insist on being so racist and critical with their comments. It is so sad the amount of hate people hold in their hearts.I can't imagine waking up daily with all that hatred. May God Bless your souls.

Dominant Breed...Hats off to you! I hope that your love spreads to others.

Let's be fair toward the cause. Individuals of the Dominant Breed don't deserve nothing less than praise and compliments. Recognize the cause and desired outcome of this organization. They sought to help within the community by way of the schools and they have done that. Racism continues to be a problem only beacause of the people who want it to be a problem. Great Job! First of all Cudos to you Dominant Breed. Second who says the name is referring to race? It may be a statement as to how we all should be giving and involved in the community. Get a life all of you who put race into everything you do.

Just tired

These people presented the best face of riders everywhere. Riders are for the most part a very special breed of people. Many folks may be surprised to learn just how much riders of every description contribute the their communities on a regular basis. This group is only a small part of much larger group of people who are often very involved in their communities, but not always very vocal about it. Now please in the future RCBOE no gasoline powered equipment inside of the school buildings. You should know the applicable laws and know better.
