There has been a lot of lies, misinformation, rumors and innuendos made about proposed health care reform -- all intended to frighten the general public into opposing any meaningful reform. U.S. Rep. Paul Broun has, however, proposed a reform that should scare the daylights out of anyone with any common sense.
As stated in The Augusta Chronicle, Broun has proposed a "Medicare health savings account that would follow beneficiaries, allowing them to spend what Medicare would have spent on them in their own way."
As I read this, it is obvious that Rep. Broun wants to end Medicare as we know it and have seniors become totally responsible for their own health care. Even assuming that the health care accounts will be tax-exempt, the proposal assures that only extremely wealthy seniors will be able to afford more than a bare minimum of health care.
How much of one's annual income and life savings can be put into the proposed health care account? What happens if someone suffers a catastrophic illness or injury that depletes their account? Will they no longer receive care or have to depend on charity? Can we as individuals negotiate the same rates with health care providers as Medicare and Part C providers are able to? I think not!
Broun's proposal is nothing more than a death sentence to the vast majority of seniors and Supplemental Security Income recipients. He does not deserve to serve in Congress, and should be recalled immediately.
Henry Rockwood

Laughable. I love how liberals just think we can keep taxing the working class to death to give to everyone else and tax those who have become rich in excess of 50% of every dollar they earn just to provide for more and more programs. When all of that money runs out, they then just say print more and send us deeper and deeper into debt because everyone deserves everything in this country wihtout earning it or working for it. More government is great and corporations are all evil, even if they pay most of the taxes to be called evil. The government is a business and no business who wants to stay in business can spend more money than they earn. We are already one of the highest taxed countries in the world and the successfull pay far more than their fare share even though they are the ones creating jobs for the citizens by taking risks and working hard. Bottom line is many of these programs must end, we simply can no longer fund them.
There is no right to health care. There is no right to affordable housing or affordable food. If you sow well you will reap well. If I want to help someone else; that is my choice. If a man doesn't work he shouldn't eat is the correct principle for all of this. It is fine to help the poor but forced givers aren't cheerful givers. The government created the mess we have today with other government medical programs and another one is supposed to fix it? Train yourself in alternative care and what is out there and 80% of your doctor visits are eliminated. God never intended for health care to be complex and expensive. If we choose to do things to destroy our bodies we are also the ones to choose to fix them. It is not anyone else's fault or responsibility. The alternative options out there are far superior, cheap, easy and fun including NAET, EFT, oil pulling, less sugar, more water, more sunshine without sunscreen, exercise and the list goes on and on. Make God your single source provider.
There is no right to social security! But the idea that Mr. Rockwood would use scare tactics the great Obumbler condemns is simply, well, hypocritical.
Has anyone even read hussein's medical care proposal?
Mr Rockwood, I'm sorry this whole subject is so confusing to you. From your letter, I think you're right. You need to be taken care of. I hope you have loving children so you won't be a burden on the taxpayer.
If you have a pre-existing condition, you cannot get insurance for any price. Also, there is no one single plan covering members of Congress. Broun is simply a rabble-rouser.
I just want to be the first to thank President Obama for keeping us safe and the economy is turing around. We knew it would be a slow process taking 2 to three years just in time for re-election. The Feds expressed confidence in the measures that our president have put into effect. We are going to be patient and give his plan time to work. With health care reform, the president will be 3 for 3. Good batting average. He really inherited a mess. If he turn it around he will be the best president ever in our country. We are very proud of his 27/7 efforts. I knew he could do it. A real tiger in the whitehouse. What a lovely first family for our country. HELLO! HELLO!
Broun is Coo Coo.
Broun, is the Michelle Bachman of the south. This guy basically proposes everyone self insures with HSA's. Why one major illness is typically six figures. Who have that kinda of money to just pust aside for a rainy day and it doesn't ruin their retirement.
Rest assured with Pat Boone in chargre of health care we will all writing Love Letters in the Sand
Broun is no where near Michelle Bachman's league. She is a class act!
I don't support Broun's plan either, just like I don't support the Communist Democrat Party's plan. I am amazed at the number of people who think they are entitled to take money out of my pocket to pay for their healthcare. Medicare was a forced system too, but at least it gets paid into for a lifetime before you get benefits. You Communist have not paid into a healthcare system and now you want me to pay for YOUR healthcare. Try getting a job and buying insurance. I agree there needs to be some type of legislation to make healthcare insurance affordable and accessible to folks with pre-existing conditions. I agree that there needs to be some legislation concerning portability. But I do not agree that the taxpayer should fund illegal aliens AND NON-WORKING or NON-INSURED BY CHOICE folk's healthcare. For those folks they can open up some government clinics and let them see some of those non-English speaking Chinese, Pakistani, and Indian doctors that our Veterans have to deal with at the VA.
Medical savings plans have been existence for ten years, therefore Broun's idea is to do nothing. Responsible people trying to pay their own way are still open to get stiffed by the insurance companies, who are free to red flag applications the moment you need anything serious from them. I suppose those who do not have a plan at all would be turned away at the door. The worst part of this is the way Broun uses the "debate" as a scare tactic.
The fact that someone may have to take of themselves is indeed "frightening" for some.
At least President Obama has initiated a discussion on healthcare, both sides and all sides. This is a better start than any past president. Whether you like or dislike what he has to offer, at least he has a plan to start with. I don't mind paying taxes for better healthcare for everyone. It will save me money. You have to have money before you can save money in a HSA or any type of savings account, and what republicans and most rich people don't understand, is that it's not that easy to save money, even if you have a good job. Of course rich people support Broun's "plan", they have the money. Most people don't have that kind of money, even the majority of people who support Broun. But again, they are only his sheep.
Does anyone realize that we are currently paying for the 47 million are whatever it is anyway? You pay for them through higher rates and higher taxes. The only difference with healthcare reform is those that can afford it but have not been paying will began to pay or at least pay a penalty so that way when they run to the emergency room or whatever they will contribute to it. The extremely poor are already getting medicaid anyway. That leaves working poor who make just enough not to get medicaid but don't have enough to pay for insurance will probably be met half way with a subsidy. That will probably be cheaper in the long run because they will get preventative care and see a doctor rather than the hospital/emergency room the most expensive care out there. Which we currently subsidize anyway. So it will benefit everyone. So as far as govt takeover you will ALWAYS have the option of private insurance the govt will just set minimum guidelines (its in the bill). Sit back stop hating Obama and think who is CURRENTLY PAYING for the uninsured who are never denied service? Those currently insured and taypayers is your answer. If you fall into that category think about it.
I would not kick Michelle Bachman out of bed; but then I certainly would not be in there for her brains and knowledge of the world around us.
Niko, I agree but once she started talking you better pretend to be sleep.
I am sure he wants these accounts to be invested in the stock market! Rich aholes do not get it. When stocks go down they miss out on another new car. It is life or death to others.
Like Michelle Bachman would ever look twice at you guys, haha.
Lets get rid of about 15 million or so by sending them back across the border.
Then teach our children personal responsibility so they will seek and purchase health insurance for themselves.
Michelle Bachman looks like a "[filtered word] eating briars." Even beauty contestants don't attempt to paste on a smile for as long as she does, then listen to the vitriol that comes out of her "cottage cheese for brains," through that big fake grin pasted on her mouth.
