COLUMBIA --- Former Florida All-American Billy Horschel shot 6-under-par 65 on Friday in the third round of the eGolf Tour's Columbia Championship to open up a three-shot lead.
Horschel, who turned pro two months ago, is at 15-under 198.
He leads Hank Kim (69 on Friday) at Columbia Country Club.
Of the area players who made the cut, North Augusta's Scott Brown (68) and Evans' Cortland Lowe are five shots off the lead at 203.
Three players with Aiken ties -- Alex Hamilton (66), Matt Hendrix (67) and Dane Burkhart (69) -- are at 205.
Augusta's Emmett Turner (69) is at 208; former USC Aiken golfer Scott Usher (71) is at 210 and former Augusta State golfer Jay Haas Jr. (73) is at 214.
Today's winner will earn $50,000.
NATIONWIDE TOUR: In Wichita, Kan., Venezuela's Jhonattan Vegas shot 4-under-par 67 to take control of the Preferred Health Systems Open.
Vegas is at 11-under 131. Three players are tied for second place at 133.
Augusta's Scott Parel shot 69 and is at 138. David Robinson, of Sandersville, Ga., had 77 for 147 and missed the cut by seven shots.
GEORGIA OPEN: In Adairsville, four players are tied for the lead at the halfway point at Barnsley Gardens, including amateur Mark Strickland, who had 2-under-par 70 on Friday. He's at 3-under 141 along with pros Jeff Hull (72), Josh Bunch (70) and Stuart Moore (74).
The top local player is Evans amateur Chris Waters (70-77--147). Brian Stock, also of Evans is at 73-76--149.
Missing the cut, which fell at 150, were Augustans Tommy Brannen (76-75--151) and Gary Cressend (79-74--153).
