BEST SHOW: My Instant Lunch, and Joe Graves and the Dirty Left Hand, Sky City, 2009. "All the songs went really well. Everything was smooth ... That was probably the best overall rock show that we've played."
FAVORITE MOVIES: Dr. Strange-love, Dumb and Dumber, North by Northwest and Hot Fuzz
MUSICAL ROOTS: "I started playing piano when I was 6, and I've pretty much played ever since. I started playing bass when I was a teenager because I thought it would help me pick up chicks better."
MOST DIFFICULT SHOW: Columbia County Rockin' Dancin' Band Fest, Adventure Crossing, 2009. "We played at 3 in the afternoon on an uncovered stage in 105-degree weather. And we blew an amp rack, one of their PA system amps. Michael Ray almost passed out because of heat ex- haustion. It was miserable. It was like playing a rock show in hell."
FAVORITE ALBUMS: My Aim is True, Elvis Costello; Revolver, The Beatles; OK Computer, Radiohead; I'm the Man, Joe Jackson; Led Zeppelin's debut album
WHAT HE'S READING: Surprised By Joy, by C.S. Lewis; Don't Waste Your Life, by John Piper; and On the Road, by Jack Kerouac
FAVORITE LOCAL BANDS: The Cubists, Eat Lightning and Joe Graves and the Dirty Left Hand
UPCOMING GIG: My Instant Lunch and Augusta Wind will play Aug. 14 (his birthday) at The Playground Bar. The free show starts at 10 p.m.
