An Appling man who was arrested in June while attending a shoot for Miley Cyrus' new movie in Tybee Island, Ga., was taken into custody Tuesday by the Columbia County Sheriff's Office on a charge of criminal attempt stalking.
Mark McLeod, 53, was arrested "without incident" about 5:15 p.m. at his home on Linder-McCurdy Road, sheriff's Capt. Steve Morris said. Tybee Island authorities issued an arrest warrant earlier in the day.
Capt. Morris said he believed that Mr. McLeod, who was warned to stay away from the entertainer, was seen back in the Tybee Island area Sunday.
He is being held at the Columbia County Detention Center until Tybee Island police pick him up, Capt. Morris said.
"From what we've been told, they will pick him up in the morning and take him back to Tybee," he said.
In June, Mr. McLeod made "inappropriate comments" to young girls while attending shoots for The Last Song, according to Tybee police. Mr. McLeod screamed obscenities as officers approached him and tried to head-butt an arresting officer as he was being taken to the patrol car, officers said.
He was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct but was released from the Chatham County jail the day after his arrest because of overcrowding, according to authorities.
Mr. McLeod showed up outside a Cyrus book-signing event March 6 in Manhattan. He professed his love for the teen star, whom he said he would marry in a video clip posted by the New York Daily News.
He also has said that the star has communicated with him through secret messages in photos and her TV show.
Capt. Morris said previously that Mr. McLeod had no criminal record with the sheriff's office. He was named a suspect in a 2006 stalking case, but no charges were filed, he said.

Looks like Georgia Regional is about to get a new permanent resident.
He's 53; she's 17 (?). How could this man possibly think a teen girl is going to find him desireable? Lolita is a novel that rarely plays out in the real world. Mr. McLeod is a weird dude, and yes, he's probably due for some happy time at Georgia Regional.
Sure, he could believe that fantasy. Look at all the people who voted for Obama.
Miley was raised in a conservative atmosphere. Isn't this story the kind of stuff Letterman lives for?
Maybe if McCain won the election he would have something better to do!!!!!
Sorry the police had to break his heart...his acky breaky heart. If they hadn't done it, I'm sure Miley would have.
I saw this video awhile back. He does need help if he can tell a reporter in NEW YORK CITY that he is marrying Miley.
Well, that's what she gets for sending him all those secret messages through her pictures and songs. :) I mean that is what I told Brad Pitt when he was proposing to me in all those People magazine cover stories. I said "you better just go back to Angie and leave me be". Geesh.
