What to pack when you go back

Expect a classic look around campuses this fall, with back-to-school fashion favorites including plenty of plaids, pleated skirts and skinny-fit jeans.

Don't be afraid to wear patterns together: You can mix your plaids with prints, graphics or solids, according to Liz Sass, store manager at Dillard's in Augusta Mall.

For younger children and teens, graphic tees continue their tenure in style, she said. Scarves are a trendy way to complement that look.

Pleated skirts will also be popular, paired with tights, Ms. Sass said. You'll continue to see maxi dresses and maxi skirts, too. Another popular look is a graphic tunic with tights.

Guys and girls will be wearing skinny-fit denim.

For boys and young men, look for graphics over prints on woven shirts. The layered look is also still popular, she said.

"A variety of texture is big for fall," she said.
