AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Melvin Purvis Grant, Sr, of Moore Avenue entered into rest Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at the University Hospital. Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 18, 2009 at 11 a.m. at new Zion Hill Baptist Church with Rev. De. James Hogan, Sr., officiating. Burial will be at Walker Memorial Park. He was a native of Aiken, SC; a member of New Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church and a retiree of Georgia Regional State Hospital after 20 years of service. Survivors are three sons, Roosevelt Frazier, Alvin (Stephanie) Wigfall, Augusta and Melvin Grant, Jr., Bogart, Ga; three daughters, Marilyn Grant, Winder, GA, Cassandra (Larry) Franklin, Yorktown, VA and Yolanda (Patrick) Barnwell, Woodbridge, VA; two brothers, Rev. Samuel (Louise) Grant, Vidette, GA, Augusta (Lena) Grant, Augusta; sister-in-law, Rebecca Bing Grant, Augusta, seven grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.
