GLOVERVILLE, S.C. - Mr. Ronnie B. Dickey, 54, affectionately known as 'Smiley', best friend and companion of thirty-years to Yvonne Matthews, and son of Dorothy Evelyn Mewbourn Dickey, Langley, SC and the late Grady Bernell Dickey, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, July 16th, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born Thomaston, GA, he had been an area resident most of his life, where he was a Plumber with Smith Brothers. He had formerly attended Langley Church of God and had recently rededicated his life to the Lord. Prior to his health declining, he enjoyed fishing. Additional family members include children, Brad Dickey, (Christie) North Augusta, SC and Kevin Matthews, (Karen) Gloverville, SC; siblings, Charlie Dickey, (Lynn) Trenton, SC, Dennis Dickey, (Denise) Clearwater, SC, and Susan Hendrix, (Jimmy) Burnettown, SC; grandson, Dylan Dickey and a granddaughter, Jessica Matthews, nieces Brooke Hendrix, Deana Leopard, (Pastor Jon) and Robin Krepps, and nephews, Drew and Darian Dickey A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, July 18th, 2009, at 11 o'clock at Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Langley, SC, Pastor Jon Leopard, Pastor Jack, and Pastor Kitty Still officiating. Interment will follow in Langley Cemetery, Langley, SC. Pallbearers will be Bill Hamilton, Jerry Storey, Gerald Storey, Todd Smith, David Scott and Pebo Anderson. The family has asked that if so desired, memorials in memory of Smiley be made to Regency Hospice, 105 Summerwood Way, Aiken, SC 29803. Friends may call at the family home.
