JULY 18: Augusta-Aiken Audubon Society will participate in the all-day North American Butterfly Count. Participants need not be proficient in identifying butterflies and can simply help others spot them. The count is all day but volunteers can help any part of the day. Participants will meet guide Lois Stacy at the Phinizy Swamp parking lot at 9 a.m. or Paul Koehler at the Silver Bluff Audubon visitor center at 9 a.m. Visit www.augustaaikenaudubon.org for more details.

JULY 25: An NRA First Step Pistol Orientation class will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Carolina Star Gun and Hunt Club, Windsor, S.C. The class is for beginner pistol shooters. The fundamentals of safety, pistol operation and marksmanship will be taught. A firing range session is included. Cost is $60. JULY 26: NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program sessions will be held at 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. at Carolina Star Gun and Hunt Club, Windsor, S.C. This is a skill development program open to all pistol and shotgun shooters, new and experienced. Range fee is $20 per shooter for pistol. Shotgun rounds are $7 each.
