AUGUSTA, Ga. - Irene Frances Shue Shorter of 2154 Chadwick Road, Augusta, GA died June 10, 2009 at Medical College of Georgia, Augusta, GA. Born Oct, 1923 at Spice, WV, Pocahontas County. She was the third daughter of the late Emery E. and Pearlie Williams Shue of Droop, WV. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Shorter, Richmond, VA, Brother, Darleigh D. Shue, Gallipolis, OH, Sisters, Daphene Grimes and Ella Jo Galford, Marlinton, WV, Edna Ray, Augusta, GA. Brother- in-law: Paul J. Atkins, Chesterfield, VA, Raymond A. Grimes, Marlinton, WV, William E. McNeal, Augusta, GA, Norman Shorter, Richmond, VA. Survivors include adopted children, Barbara S. Owens, Diane Shorter and Dennis Shorter, Richmond, VA. Sisters: Anna Atkins, Chesterfield, VA, Berlene Long and Wenona McNeal, Augusta, GA, Vivian Gibson, Maxwelton, WV. Brother-in-law: Carl V. Ray, Augusta, GA, Robert Galford, Marlinton, WV and Eldred Gibson, Maxwelton, WV. Four grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Irene was a graduate of Hillsboro High School, Hillsboro, WV and J. Sergeant Reynolds Community College, Richmond, VA. Upon retirement from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Richmond, VA, she moved to Augusta, GA in 1989. Irene was a former member of the Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, Droop, WV, Asbury United Methodist Church, Richmond, VA and Fleming Church of God, Augusta, GA. Irene was a Prayer Warrior with the Intercessory Prayer Network of the National Prayer Center. Graveside services will be at the Whiting Cemetery, Droop, WV, July 18, 2009 at 2PM with nephew, Lowell Galford, Lewisburg, WV, officiating. Interment will follow. Memorials may be made to the Mt.
