SRS job fairs planned at Paine, Aiken Tech

The U.S. Department of Energy announced that its Savannah River Operations Office and Savannah River Nuclear Solutions will hold two town hall meetings and job fairs.

The first meeting is at 11 a.m. today in the amphitheater, Building 700, at Aiken Technical College. The job fair will follow in the gymnasium, Building 900, from noon to 3 p.m.

The second meeting will be at 11 a.m. July 20 in Gilbert-Lambuth Memorial Chapel at Paine College. The job fair will be in the college's Carter Gymnasium from noon to 3 p.m.

Austrian officials look at possible Madoff ties

VIENNA --- U.S. and British investigators have joined Austrian prosecutors in examining possible ties between a Vienna fund manager and Bernard Madoff, whose multibillion-dollar Ponzi scheme wiped out thousands of investors and charities worldwide, an official said Monday.

Gerhard Jarosch, spokesman for the Vienna public prosecutor's office, told The Associated Press his office is aiding the U.S. Justice Department and Britain's Serious Fraud Office in separate investigations of Bank Medici AG and its chairwoman, Sonja Kohn.

Pepsi plans to boost investment in Russia

MILWAUKEE --- Soft drink and snack maker PepsiCo Inc. announced plans Monday to boost its investment in Russia, continuing a trend of companies seeking to counteract softening U.S. sales.

With its largest bottler, Pepsi Bottling Group Inc., PepsiCo plans to invest another $1 billion in Russia over three years, taking the partnership's Russia stake above $4 billion as President Obama visited Moscow.
