MAYOR DEKE, Betty Beard and Margaret Woodard have something in common. They all live in gentrified neighborhoods. All three of them need to step out of their gentrified comfort zones and accept invitations to be weekend Harrisburg house guests. We've got news for them: Eating raw fish at Kinja 2 Sushi Express does not count. The historic mill village battle zone is on the other side of Walton Way.
I'M ALL FOR families working to stay intact. But if Sanford's "soul mate" is in Argentina, then his wife is a complete idiot if she doesn't throw him and all of his stuff to the curb, and I don't mean neatly in a suitcase either.
I AGREE with the person who said Augusta should have a professional group to manage the everyday affairs for the city. I think it would work better than what is in place now. Case in point: The sewage-treatment plant has not been fined or had a problem since it was outsourced. But you notice they want to oust the company this year.
IN HONDURAS, the courts and the congress warned the Marxist President Zelaya not to rewrite their constitution unilaterally. Why on Earth would Obama support such a criminal as Zalaya?
SHERIFF RONNIE STRENGTH is the reason I choose to continue to live in Richmond County. We are very fortunate that our sheriff is elected and not appointed by those madmen and that shady, power-crazed woman.
THIS IS A QUESTION directly to animal control. If you've had people calling in about stray dogs roaming neighborhoods and it's a problem, why would you charge people $50 if they ask you to come pick up a dog or another pet because they can no longer house it properly or take care of it properly? If I can't take care of it properly, that means I don't have $50. But if I let the dog loose so that he becomes a stray, that's a problem for the whole community.
THIS IS A RANT for the city wanting to invest in a trolley system. I equate that with somebody wanting to build a swimming pool in the backyard when the roof is in bad need of repair.
TO ALL THE adulterers who are meeting in Thornton Park in Jackson, please find somewhere else to meet. Our park is a place for our children to play, not for adults to engage in questionable behavior. We've seen many who are sitting in their cars but after awhile disappear into the recesses of their seats.
HEADLINE: "Taxable values decline in 2009." The real values of property didn't decline because honest values are still far below what government claims. The bubble inflated everything artificially, and we're stuck with the phony results of that government scam.
