WHO: Incoming officers for the Salvation Army in Augusta
THE JOB: The development of the Salvation Army's Kroc Center meant Augusta needed a second pair of officers to assist with the day-to-day operations of the ministry, including church services, emergency shelter, food pantry, and rent and utilities assistance. Capt. Todd and Wilma Mason will continue to serve in Augusta as corps commanders overseeing the Kroc Center, a $97.8 million community center that will include an indoor water park, social services and a performing arts center in Harrisburg.
THEIR STORY: Lts. Lee and Michelle Wilson moved to Augusta two weeks ago. They recently graduated from Evangeline Booth College in Atlanta and have been commissioned as officers in the Salvation Army. The Wilsons have been married for 10 years and were employees of the Salvation Army for 12 years before entering full-time service.
QUOTE: "Our goal is through the work of the Salvation Army to show the Augusta community the love of Christ," Lt. Michelle Wilson said. "We're very excited about the Kroc Center. It's more than building a facility. We're in the process of building a congregation."
