AUGUSTA, Ga. - Joseph E. Collins Jr. was born September 18, 1952 in Richmond County, Georgia to the late Annie Maude and Joseph Collins Sr. He departed this life on June 27, 2009 at the Medical College of Georgia. He attended Richmond County Schools and was employed by Augusta National Golf Course as a caddie for many years. He retired in 2007 due to illness. Survivors include a loving and devoted aunt/mother, Ms. Fairy B.. Latson; daughter, Melissa V. Johnson; son, Michael L. Garnett; two brothers, Tony (Mary) Collins and Allen Collins of Marion, Ohio; three sisters, Pearl Epps, Deloris Clark, and Georgette Booker; devoted cousin, Shirley (James) Quarles; seven grandchildren; special friend/caregiver, Elaine Johnson and Fred Harrison; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many sorrowing friends. Funeral services will be conducted this Friday, July 3, 2009 at 12 Noon at C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Gibson Chapel with Reverend J.C. Trowell officiating. Interment will be in Westover Cemetery.
