AUGUSTA, Ga. - Melvin Lee Sawyer of Augusta died June 29, 2009. He was 42 years old. The family will receive friends Thursday, July 2, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta, 706.798.8886. The graveside service will be conducted Friday, July 3, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at West View Cemetery, 2051 Division Street, Augusta, 30904. Rev. Marion Jay will officiate. Melvin Sawyer is survived by his brothers, Ronnie Mack Sawyer and Glenn Harvey Sawyer; his aunts, Joann Brendle, Amanda Self, Cleo Strauss, Lolita Jones; his uncle, Danny Sawyer; his cousins, John Grigg, Calvin Grigg and David Grigg.
