WAYNESBORO, Ga. - Mrs. Frances Aleen Payton Wren of Ponderosa Road in Waynesboro died on Tuesday, June 30, 2009. She was 77 years old. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 2, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at The Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road. The funeral service will be conducted on Friday, July 3, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Morningside Baptist Church. Rev. Don Tipton and Rev. Wally Hoyle will officiate. Pallbearers will be Keith Wren, Jason Bell, Brandon Garrett, Stuart Redd, William Payton, and Wade Payton. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Ladies II Sunday School Class of Morningside Baptist Church. Committal services will follow at West View Cemetery. Mrs. Wren was a member of Morningside Baptist Church and Ladies II Sunday School Class. She was a homemaker and a member of the Harrisburg Birthday Club. Mrs. Wren was a long time bookkeeper for Payton and Wren Sand and Gravel. She enjoyed cooking and sewing for friends and family. Her greatest joy was being called Granny. Mrs. Wren is survived by her son, Donnie Wren and his wife Hebe of Waynesboro; her daughter, Debbie Penn and her husband Benny of Appling; her daughter, Susan Garrett and her husband Barry of Waynesboro; her brother, James Ronald Payton and his wife Jerri of Blythe; five grandchildren, Keith Wren and his wife Arlene, Stephanie Craven, Nikki Redd and her husband Stuart, Jennifer Bell and her husband Jason, Brandon Garrett and his wife Candace; and seven great grandchildren. Mrs. Wren was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Roy Wren in 1996, and her parents Easel W. Payton and Gertrude McKenzie Payton.
