TIFTON, Ga. - Wade Talmadge Sprouse, Jr., 84, of Tifton, died Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday at the First United Methodist Church of Tifton. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 - 9:00 P.M., Thursday at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors. Born April 12, 1925, in Augusta to the late Wade Talmadge Sprouse, Sr., and Daisy Mae Cawley Sprouse Wheatley, Mr. Sprouse was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Nell Edwards Sprouse to whom he was married forty-nine years; his second wife, Vivian Green Gibbs Sprouse; and one sister, Ernestine Adams of Augusta. Mr. Sprouse served in the U.S. Navy in WWII. He worked for the Department of the Army as a vocational training supervisor for thirty-five years. He also was a farmer. Mr. Sprouse was a Mason, and he loved to play golf, to hunt, fish, and boating. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Tifton. Mr. Sprouse is survived by two daughters and two sons-in-law, Nancy and Bob Howard of Duluth and Lee and Jon McCanless of Murfreesboro, Tenn; one son and one daughter-in-law, Tom and Linda Sprouse of Tifton; one sister, Jeanne Broadwater of Martinez and Anne Shultzaberger of Augusta; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
