"Right now there's an expression of her interest to come in," said Roush Fenway Racing president Geoff Bodine . "I don't think they're settled on a strategy right now. Do you race two series? Do you race open wheel and Nationwide?"
There is a strong connection between IMG and NASCAR.
George Pyne is the former COO of NASCAR who now is the president of sports and entertainment for IMG.
Patrick said she should have a decision in August.
NO FAN OF ROAD COURSES: Not only does Matt Kenseth not want to see a road course in the 10 race schedule that makes up the Chase for the Championship, he'd like to see road courses dropped from the regular season, too.
"I don't think road-course racing, in my opinion, is really what Sprint Cup racing is about," he said. "It's kind of unique and something a year, but I don't think that describes at all what we do each and every week or that should really determine a championship, in my opinion.
"But it doesn't matter what I'm opposed to. It's just that we do it two times a year and we race ovals 34 times a year."
ROUSH WEIGHS OPTIONS: Car owner Jack Roush has to cut one of his five race teams at the end of the season. The two leading candidates remain David Ragan and Jamie McMurray .
NASCAR will limit the number of cars for a single team to four. While Ragan or McMurray will be forced out, they probably won't go far. They'll probably end up at Yates Racing, which acts as a satellite operation for Roush.
HALL OF FAME NOMINEES: Former drivers-turned-owners Glen Wood and Richard Childress are among the 25 nominees for the first NASCAR Hall of Fame induction class. Wood helped pioneer the modern-day pit stop, while Childress shares the record of 11 owner championships in NASCAR's three national series.
PIT STOPS: Kenseth will be added to Daytona International Speedway's Walk of Fame on Friday. The defending Daytona 500 champ will have his signature, right foot print and hand prints set in concrete.
