Eugene Robinson   (AUGUSTA, Ga.)

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Eugene "Gene" Robinson, Sr. entered into rest on Sunday, June 28, 2009, at VA Medical Center in Augusta, Ga. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2009, at 1 p.m. at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Rev. James Kendricks, Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Reynolds, Ga. Gene, a native of Reynolds, Ga., was a veteran of the United States Army. Gene was a member of Hale Street Baptist Church, where he served as a faithful Trustee and friend to his Pastor. Gene was also a well known roofer in the CSRA, where his motto was "We take pride in our work." Survivors are: Ethel Moody Robinson, the mother of their nine children; one sister, Ruth Walker, Jackson, Mich.; one brother, Sylvester Robinson, Atlanta, Ga.; one sister-in-law, Gladys Coleman, Augusta; his nine children, Eugene (Mary) Robinson, Jr., Decatur, Ga., Merian R. Robinson, David (Deborah) B. Robinson, Conyers, Ga., Clifford F. Robinson, Sandra R. Turner, Richard M. Robinson, Emily V. Robinson, Cheryle (Art) R. Safford, Keith (Cathy) J. Robinson, Agawam, Mass.; 30 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; one dear friend and companion, Leroy Turner; a devoted cousin, Willie Mae Allen; two goddaughters, Glenda Crawford and Laverne Moss; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 1, 2009, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home.
