WRENS, Ga. - Mrs. Lillian Elizabeth Gay Groover, 88, wife of the late William Rast Groover, Sr., entered into rest Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at Jefferson Hospital in Louisville, GA. Funeral services will be held at James Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, July 2, 2009 at 9:00AM with the Rev. Keith Jordan officiating. Interment will follow at the Wrens Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 1, 2009, from 7:00-9:00PM. Mrs. Groover was born in Jefferson County, graduated from Thomson High School, obtained her bachelors and masters degrees, and taught school in Dearing, Jessup, Lyons and Palm Beach County, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel Detroit and Elma Dickson Gay; her brothers Sidney Morris Gay and Drew Elliott Gay; and her sister, Lawanna Gay Eubanks. Survivors include her son, William Rast (Ann) Groover, Jr., Ft. McCoy, FL; her daughters, Carole Deane (William Coleman) Groover, Chicago, IL, and Martha Ann (David) Lindner; eight grandchildren, Lori Groover (Wayne) McDonald, Ocala, FL, Joseph Christopher (Victoria) Groover, Kings Bay, GA, Calvin Thomas (Erica) Groover, Murphy, NC, Katelyn Groover (Julio) Manressa, Ocala, FL, Elisheva Ruth Coleman, Manhattan, NY, Elizabeth Marie (Faith) Lindner, Athens, GA, Sarah Ann (Javier) Lindner, and David Brian (Christy) Lindner II, Athens, GA; and 6 great-grandchildren, Kenneth, Jared, Gracianna, Isabel, Ava and Jonathan. Pallbearers will be Joseph Groover, David Jackson, David Lindner II, James John, Wells McCorkle Jr., and Ethan Womack.
