AUGUSTA, Ga. - Reba Chavous James, 88, wife of 69 years to V.B. James, entered into rest Sunday, June 28, 2009, at University Hospital. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors this Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at 10:00 A.M., with the Reverend Fred Heard officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Mrs. James a native and lifelong resident of Augusta, was the daughter of the late Oliver and Florence Chavous. She had retired from Lily Tulip Company from the packing department. She was a member of the Richmond Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of Mize Memorial United Methodist Church. Mrs. James was preceded in death by her brother, Woodrow Chavous and her sisters, Katherine James and Ruth Gleaton. In addition to her husband she is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Roye of Martinez; a granddaughter, Natalie Yelton-Orlando of Hillsborough, NC; and great grandchildren, Zachary Orlando, Caleigh Orlando and Carrington Orlando. Pallbearers will be Zachary Orlando, Cary Russell, David James, Russell Roddey, Kenny Kinsey and Paul Griffin. Honorary pallbearers will be Allen Chavous and Clarence Bowen. The family will receive friends this Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
