Comments from our readers:

THIS IS A BRIEF rant for the city of Augusta. It needs to enforce the traffic laws. It needs to have cameras overhead. I'm ready to get these people off the cell phones and the speeders from running from lane to lane. Traffic is out of sync here altogether. I can't afford to leave here. If I could, I would.

WHEN IS The Augusta Chronicle going to realize you are not Sports Illustrated and keep basketball and other sports off the front page? Please put it in Sports where it belongs.

I DO NOT condone the sinful actions of the leaders of our government who are so egotistical and think that they are God's gift to women. I also blame the women who make themselves available to them. If I had been Jenny Sanford, the governor's bags would be sitting on the Capitol steps when he showed up.

WHAT MARK SANFORD did was wrong. In my eyes, that's his personal business. I live in South Carolina, and I think we should be concerned about how he's handling the state, not what he's doing with his personal life. If he spent state money, he should pay it back. But he has done a good job as governor.

AS A YOUNG MAN I made some stupid irresponsible choices. As a result, I did two years in prison. It's difficult for felons returning to life on the outside of a cell. It's good to know there are still great folks around willing to give a convicted felon a second chance. Thanks to my family, church, and a special individual for your unwavering assistance. I won't let you down.

A RANT in response to the person who wrote in about children quitting "team sports" in the middle of the season. I signed my son up for soccer through the Family Y. My son was scheduled for surgery. The coach called me about two weeks before the season started. I explained that the date of the surgery was locked in weeks ago and it would be impossible to change it to fit the soccer season. My son was out, on doctor's orders, for three weeks (half of the soccer season). When I did take him to practice/games, I was given the cold shoulder and made to feel like my son did not belong on the team. After one game and one practice, I decided it wasn't worth it to keep him on the "team" if he wasn't going to be included in the "team." Sometimes coaches and leaders need to understand there is no "I" in "TEAM"!

I WOULD LIKE to thank everyone responsible for bringing Bill Gaither's Vocal Band to the James Brown Arena in November. I recently ordered group tickets for my church and would like to thank the lady who promptly returned my phone call, took my order and arranged for me to receive our tickets. It was a nice experience.
