It's hard to identify him in the picture because he's holding two fingers in front of his face, a peace sign that represented the two medals he won in the 100- and 200-meter events.
A week later, Lord placed fifth in the 100 at the Nike Outdoor Nationals, earning All-America status in what is considered the country's top meet for high school athletes. He finished in 10.8 seconds, running into a wind. Dentarius Lott , from Tampa, Fla., won the title in 10.59.
Lord, who will be a senior at Glenn Hills this fall, has rebounded from an injury-filled junior season to establish himself as one of the fastest sprinters in the country. He's hoping the momentum will carry over to this football season, which will be his last at Glenn Hills. The plan is to use his sprinting to attract interests from colleges to play football and run track. Glenn Hills used him at both running back and wideout last year.
"I did exactly what I wanted to do," Lord said of his busy June.
A knee injury forced him to pull up in the Region 3-AAAA 100 finals in April (he lost to Evans' Perron Jones and Jonathan Finch ), and he didn't run the 200. He was a state qualifier in both as a junior.
In Puerto Rico, Lord finished third in the 100 and fourth in the 200, racing against athletes from the Caribbean and the rest of the United States.

Snyder, though, isn't resting. He's an assistant coach at Butler, new coach Ashley Harden said. Snyder will coach defensive backs.
"He's going to help us out a whole lot," Harden said.
