BARNWELL, S.C. - Dorothy Blume Boyles Bates, 79, wife of Frank 'Buster' Bates passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at the Barnwell County Hospital. Mrs. Bates was born on March 12, 1930 in Williston SC. She was the daughter of the late Noel and Louise Laird Blume. She was first married to the late Edward F. Boyles Sr. She was a retired employee of Milliken and Company and was a member of Siloam United Methodist Church. Miss Dorothy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and she will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday in the Mole Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joey McDonald officiating. Burial will follow in the Siloam United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday evening at Mole Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Edward F. Boyles III, James Still, Chris Still, Steve Renew, Norman Kirkland and Jeff Canfield. Honorary pallbearers will be Wilbur Wood and William Chavez. Survivors include her husband, Frank 'Buster' Bates of Barnwell, SC; sons, Edward F. (Janie) Boyles Jr. & Joe Boyles of Barnwell SC; daughters, Shirley Boyles (Edward) Ponds & Pat Boyles (Jimmy) Still of Barnwell, SC; step-daughters, Shirley Bates (Gary) Cook of Barnwell, SC & Peggy Bates (Sandy) Sanders of Greenville NC.; sister, Frances Hutto of Augusta Ga.; twelve grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
