MITCHELL, Ga. - Mrs. Evelyn Usry Thigpen, 79, loving wife of the late Mr. Leroy Thigpen, entered into rest Monday, June 22, 2009, at Jefferson Hospital, Louisville, Ga. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Fellowship Baptist Church with Rev. Jacky Downs officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Thigpen was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and a native of Glascock Co. Survivors are three daughters, Linda Cantrell of Mitchell, Faye (Jim) Fries of Hephzibah, and Teresa (Jim) Smith of Phenix City, Ala.; two sons, Dwight Thigpen of Thomson and Tony (Leslie) Thigpen of Mitchell; three sisters, Deanie Swint of Gibson, Katie Swint of Gibson, and Emma Davis of Augusta; seven grandchildren, Buddy (Ann) Cantrell, Jonathan Cantrell, Jimmy (Amie) Fries, Wade Thigpen, Sara Thigpen, Hannah Thigpen, Maggie Thigpen; and five great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are Buddy Cantrell, Jimmy Fries, Wade Thigpen, Brad Usry, Clay Walden, and Tim Shelton. Honorary pallbearers are Buddy and Rita Story, Ralph and Hazel Kelley, and Terrell and Helen Williford. Memorials may be made to the Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery Fund in care of Mrs. Wilma Mathis, 1033 Hwy 102 West, Gibson, Ga. 30810.
