COLDWATER, Mich. - Warren M. Whitaker, Sr., 61, a native of McDuffie County, Ga., passed away on May 12, 2009 in Coldwater, Mich. Mr. Whitaker was a member of Fort Creek Baptist Church near Dearing, Ga. and is survived by two sons, Warren M. Whitaker, Jr. of Byron, Ga. and Joshua M. Whitaker of Grovetown, Ga.; one stepbrother, Frank Story of Evans; and four grandchildren in Georgia. Mr. Whitaker was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Sue Cheely. Mr. Whitaker attended Thomson High School and served in the U.S. Army and is a veteran of the Vietnam War where he served in the infantry during 1968 and 1969. Recently, Mr. Whitaker worked in home construction and repair. Friends and family may attend a graveside memorial service that will be held on Saturday, June 27, at 4 p.m. at the West View Cemetery in Augusta, Ga.
