Comments from our readers:

I AM SO TIRED of irresponsible drivers running red lights, not using turn signals, speeding.

OBAMA TO IRAN: "My country is prepared to move forward. ... The question now is not what Iran is against, but rather what future it wants to build. ... There will be many issues to discuss ... and we are willing to move forward without preconditions on the basis of mutual respect." Can you find any solid meaning in any of that? "Move forward?" "What it wants to build?" "Many issues to discuss." "Move forward" again. Meaningless phrases.

I HAVE WORKED at Augusta Mall for over 20 years and always feel safe. The customer climate has improved significantly since the remodel, and this shopping center deserves our support. I bet the crime stats are not any better at other comparable shopping venues. You just don't see them on the front page of the paper.

THE GEORGIA BOARD of Regents exists to run state-run colleges, including medical schools. Dr. Rahn is leaving, and the board is "appointing a search committee for his replacement." That committee is searching not for a replacement but for a "search firm" to do the work for them. Why not just have the state hire the search firm and fire the board? Wouldn't that be cheaper?

I THINK IT'S TIME for the world to begin limiting births. With the cost of health care and availability of food, there is no reason for families to have more than two kids.

A RAVE for the Morris Museum of Art's Sunday afternoon programs. We loved hearing Paul Roberts' jazz quintet, and the week before we enjoyed Social Canvas. These programs bring the community together, educate in a fun way, and they are free.

CONCERNING BONDS through the development authority: The bonds are not taxpayer bonds. They are sold by the company to private investors to raise money to finance the project. The company that pays back the bondholders, with interest, over a 20-year period. The development authority is only the vehicle to approve the authorization for the company to sell the bonds. Whoever thinks the development authority is giving money to a company is 100 percent wrong. Do some research before you rant.
